this seems to of gone very quiet, so perhaps he is a backup option if we don't get Batman

Reading earlier posts in this thread, I'm not sure if we're allowed to say the word 'backup'... :cautious:

not in the east herts licensing area, we have about 20 taxis too many and the council refuse to cap it
Sorry, it was a pun. Picking up as in picking up passengers. Probably not funny if I had to explain it

Not reading too much into anything just yet. Suspect we're sounding out all potential striker targets and the agents are filtering it to the press, hence the multiple links. Doubt we'll make a solid move until we've found out the costs, wage demands, settled on our favourite etc. It wouldn't surprise me if the forward was our last signing, towards the end of the window.

Still think I'd prefer Janssen over Batshuayi. I think Janssen is a much easier deal, and his goal scoring ability, both for AZ last year, and also how he has taken that to International level, suggests he isn't any less of a calibre player.
I fear we may hang on, and on, for Batshuayi, and it could end up being another Berahino scenario where we his club won't deal on our terms and we have left it too late move to plan B.
If rather just go for Janssen now, get him in and settled. He strikes me as the sort of player that, if we don't sign him now, he'll go to someone like Everton or Southampton for £12m, score consistently and be worth at least twice that next year.
He seems a closer like for like focal striker like Kane, so if Harry is rested, we don't have to change our style of play. As for those suggesting we need a plan B, there has been talk of a second forward coming in, so maybe that can be the alternative. Quincy Promes has been linked, a fellow Dutch player, capable of playing a different style.

Marseille can't afford to hang on.
