Apparently we made 3 bids for VJ.... De telegraf

It is said the opening offer was £8.3m plus £2.1m of add-ons, the second was for £10.4m plus £2.1m of add-ons and the third was for £11.6m spread over three years.

Janssen would play at 9 and Kane would play in the 10 or "auxiliary striker" role as Alli does.

Poch liked to put Kane back there when Soldado came on.

I don't think that will happen much.

2 strikers doesn't help you break down tough defences - different AMs does that.

And Kane is one of the best #9s in the world, he's not going to be used out of position to accommodate anyone.

Janssen makes sense in that he's available for a reasonable fee, he's young, so far has performed very well in the Dutch league and at International level and is similar to Kane in the sense he would be like for like and not require a massive change in system/the way we play. This is a good but also a bad thing, the latter being an issue in that when we fail to break teams down we need someone who's capable of getting in behind/stretching play.... by signing Janssen we'll still head into next season with the same issue. Signing Sanabria too or a quick/skillful wide attacking midfielder/forward is essential.

We need to cover the possibility of Kane getting injured. We were incredibly lucky last year that Kane and Dier were ever present but I wouldn't want to take that chance again. I'd prefer Batshuayi but I'd have taken Janssen in a heartbeat last September.

CFC made no contact with OM until yesterday afternoon, by 8pm the deal was done and we're left looking like twats after spending 7 months scouting & bartaring over the price.

If you pay peanuts, you get.......

When money has no value to you it is easy to get deals done. Plus how about the peanuts we paid for Alli or Dier ?

Let Chelsea pay £3m for a two-up two-down in Todmorden. That's what doped clubs do.

Cover/competition is critical. It's not just injuries we need to be worried about... Kane couldn't hit a barn door in the 1st few games and he was burnt towards the end of the season. Add to the fact he's been terrible at the Euro's, makes the need to sign 1 if not 2 strikers essential. I'm just hoping Kane gets some well earned rest and is refreshed for the start of the new season.

You know what, I'm sick and tired of all these transfer windows, and all this money (enough to finance a small country somewhere) is even more obscene than it was years ago. I couldn't care less who goes where or for how much any more, long as we plug a few gaps, I don't care if they come from Real Madrid or Chesterfield. Just get the right people, not necessarily the most expensive.

The point is he has obviously been our first choice, and now we have to move on again
