That would be 'the Jansen rose tinted spectacles brigade' :D

Unless anyone who wants to give him a chance is making a massively mistaken fashion statement, of course :woot:

Is it ok to be happy to give janssen a chance to develop long term, but also believe we absolutely must bring in better for the upcoming season as he isn't good enough just yet?

No, it's damned well not and i'll thank you to stop it with these outrageous suggestions. Your position must be to think he's absolutely, no holds barred, useless with no hope of progressing. There can be nothing else lest you out yourself as a know-nothing.

Anyone willing to see how he goes this season is blatantly a lentil munching, sandal wearing hippy who spends half his time knitting tank tops and the other half making bracelets out of daisys or crafting rose tinted specs :D

What makes you so sure his replacement would hit the ground running?
What makes you so sure Levy would even buy a replacement, Spurs19? I think many accept that Janssen is limited, but I guess we just have to support the lad and hope Poch can weave his magic with him, because truthfully, is anyone here confident that Levy would spend decent money on an upgrade?

Bring Sterling into first team squad, keep Janssen for another season to see how he goes.

You're wasting your time saying anything sensible to Dave because you're extremely unlikely to get a sensible response in return, the likely result will be another dig which is more aimed at getting a rise out of people than anything constructive. His last however many posts have been just that so its hardly likely to change now :D

I'm not that vindictive. I just think he is a very poor footballer. I don't think it would be difficult to name 20 pl strikers who are better than him. Spurs have a window where we can try to win the league. I don't think VJ is a player of the requisite quality to help us do that. We have a limited number of squad places and a limited wage budget. He is taking up space that could be occupied by someone who might help us acheive our goals.

Let's says Harry does his ankle against Newcastle. Who would be confident that we would win with Janssen leading the line against Chelsea?

I'm very interested to see how Janssen does this season.

I think a year settling into the Prem and a full preseason getting ready for Poch's intensity makes this a big season for him.

I understand others' scepticism but I don't think we can simply go out and buy a back-up to Kane who is going to be good enough to lead the line against Chelsea straight-away.

People were massively criticial of Son and he just had a great season.

Our success is in developing players and not looking for the ready-made star.

VJ as main striker in the League Cup games, Sterling and Harrison on the bench to get some minutes. I don't think anyone doubts his determination and application now. If he can find a extra yard of pace from somewhere - which remember, Kane had to find himself - and be encouraged to be more selfish sometimes, instead of just the set up man, Vinny could do a good solid job for us.

I am personally a big fan and love the guy's attitude and heart. With more coaching and minutes I am hoping and praying he makes that next step up. Next season though will be make or break I feel. It's much harder for strikers anyway as they're judged principally on goals. Peter Beardsley, for example, I don't believe was the greatest goalscorer, but with Rush or Lineker, his contribution to others' success vastly outweighed that.

If we don't sign any attacking players which really isn't beyond the realms of possibility then VJ will get early opportunities. With Son and Lamela injured and Alli banned for 3 European games he should be used up front with Kane with Eriksen behind.

Last season Kane led the line against Chelsea three times and we lost twice. I'm not sure how confident i'd be with Kane leading the line :D

Can't believe anyone that watched the PSG game can use that as evidence he's not good enough. He was even critical in our best attack that game (the one Davies finished).

Kane barely touched the ball that game. He must be regressing right?

Vince is a fine player. His confidence's low and it shows, but I'm sure he will have a decent season. He is a backup player after all. I could even argue he is third choice (after Son) when everyones fit.

What exactly are people demanding from a 2/3 choice striker that gets very few minutes?
