very insightful post further up, he does have the look of a young glenn johnson or micah richardson about him, flashes of brilliance mixed with moments of utter madness.

He's still developing and TBH I don't understand or agree with the amount of stick he gets on here. When Bale first arrived people were coming in their pants about him, then it went a bit downhill and people were saying pretty much the same about Bale as they are about Walker these days. I'm not saying he's going to develop into another Bale, but he's certainly going to be a very very good player IMO. Give him a break.

As for him dragging Lennon down with him, I disagree. It would have helped if Lennon didn't constantly put himself behind Demspey instead of in front of him, which IMO slowed us down a lot on that side of the pitch. Whose fault? Dempsey or Lennon?

Naughty Lennon.....

How terribly unfashionable of me ;)

Walker very strange? I thought you were going to say he was caught out and about with one of those life size human dolls.

I thought Walker was good, it was Lennon who stopped making the smart runs in the second half. Twice Walker played good balls in behind the defence for Lennon, and Lennon was caught on his heels.
The blame is always on the one who is passing. You can't pass to nobody. His passing is often diabolical.

Spot on!

There were quite a few well respected posters claiming that he Bale was shite and the sooner he went to Forest the better! :wacky:

I believe Walker will develop and will get better. Its not going to happen overnight but until then we've still got one of the best English right backs

And there, in a nutshell is half of our problem. It's always about blame. Who can we dig out next? And if there's not a good reason to dig him out, fuck it, lets make one up. Blame is always on the one passing my great big fat hairy pimply wrinkled shiny but strangely peach shaped arse.

The 13th starsign strikes again.

Or to put it politely, I strongly disagree ;)

That isn't saying much. Gary Neville could probably get into the England squad if he was still playing.

In the first half he got himself into some really good positions and linked up well with Lennon, but I still think his final ball is, by and large, woefully poor. The one time he actually created a chance last night was when he bundled his way through a bit on the right which meant he didn't have a huge amount of time to think about it (unfortunately Bale muffed it up).

When he has time to think about it though he almost always gets it wrong and that's a bit concerning.

As for his defending he was on the wrong side of his attacker far too many times, but to his credit he does get back a lot of the time with his pace, and to be fair to him he was getting no help from Lennon in the second half.

As everyone has said he is still very young so there is more than enough time for him to iron out the kinks in his game both in terms of defence and attack, but he'll have to do it relatively quickly if he wants to remain a shoe-in for our first team. Still the best option for right back at the moment though.

1st half we knew we had intent in our play and attacked and defended as a unit. 2nd half we didn't know how to play it so everyone played it safe. Defence stayed defending, forwards stayed up the pitch and we became stretched. Walker being attack minded probably was a bit stuck between two minds, got a little out of position and didn't really have much help from the rest of his team mates. Must say though that in the first half he looked nearly back to his best

And he's still young! Bale is only just becoming consistent and he's been a super star for 2 years. Bale fucks up it doesn't cost us anything. Walker makes a mistake then they're in on goal

No, I am not looking for someone to blame. It 's about this particular element of the game. The guy before was blaming Lennon for not making a run. Don't pass then if he's not showing for it. It's basic.

There were definitely times last night, when, after Lennon had obviously been told to get forward more and run with the ball, he was stranded without cover. I find the 'wing' Lennon does a lot of defensive work and is always quick to turn on his heels and get back to cover, whereas the 'roaming' Lennon often gets too close to goal and then gives up the ghost if he loses the ball in much more advanced areas, leaving Walker higher up the pitch (covering the wing) and with more work to do on his way back to defence.

He does blow a bit hot and cold, but we've got to stick with him. This time last year he was being sounded out as one of the most promising talents in the league and bullying his way into the England squad.

Walker's talent >>>>> Walker's bad days.

So Walker is good going forward, but can't defend, and Lennon doesn't do enough going forward but tracks back really well.

Of course I'm not going to suggest that...

I thought a couple of those corners went into decent areas but we had no one willing to attack them. Lyon clearly sussed out the attempted pull back corner which made us look silly.
Perhaps if he got an assist in the first half which some talentless numpty managed to miss it might have given him confidence.
