Why would wes go to Liverpool?! Ridiculous that he would even contemplate it. He's too good for us let alone them!
It's a chance to play in the premiership for a big club, we are only 6 points ahead of them, they aren't down in the relegation zone.

Reporter asked Rogers about Sneijder this evening. He replied "no comment"...

I really think Liverpool are going to sign Sneijder and when they do I think they would be a good bet for 4th. The point gaps aren't huge and they are on a good run and have addressed their weaknesses so far this window.

Sneijder is the sort of signing that really picks up all the players around them. Yes he may be expensive but I think he will have a big impact if he goes to any prem club similar to the impact an Unfit and out of from VDV had. Class is class.

I completely agree, if they manage to get him I think, as you mentioned, the whole team will get a big lift. Liverpool feel really hard done by this season and are really going to fight to the wire to get top four. I can't help but feel Sneijder will blossom in the EPL and this deal could really come back to haunt us. I still have a little hope that he will be wearing a lillywhite shirt come the first of feb...

It's late, I'm already asleep and dreaming.

I.don't see how he can come back.to haunt us. Weve never had him, could never have afforded his wages, we may have made tentative enquiries but that's all they would be.

Liverpool by all accounts have just lost 100k off the wage bill by selling Cole, that Will be burning a hole in.someone's pockets.

We would never pay that, nor could we realistically, for a player in their prime, let alone a 28? Year ok injury prone player.

This actually reeks of Joe Cole MK11. Albeit with s much better calibre of player.

Adebayor is 28 and is he not on 100k? Sneijder has a much more silver wear in his cabinet, and with that invaluable experience, he was short listed for the ballon d'or in 2010, I really wouldn't be so quick to write him off . And VDV had his injury scarred past yet we all know his spurs story. If he does go to Liverpool then I really hope your right about Cole MK11 but I just fear for the worst at a point in the season where we have it all to loose.

I dunno if you are actually asking that question seriously or not, but in case you are the answer is 75% money and 25% Liverpool (rightly or wrongly) still having a fantastic reputation, especially with overseas players who don't all eat, sleep, breathe EPL every season and still see LFC as a really big club (rightly or wrongly).

Now whether we deserve to still have the reputation, brand, pulling-power etc or not is a debate for another day but people in footy still seem to see us as an attraction, as well as us paying well, and as much as people outside of LFC hate this, we do have a great history which, very luckily for us, still holds some currency after 3 seasons of mediocrity.

This really helps us with all the schmoozing that goes on at the beginning of a negotiation, when trying to convince big players to sign (I dunno if this is the same under BR, but big players we were trying to convince used to be shown a shortish DVD all about the history, the fans, Europe, the full works - bit cringe when I think of it actually).

FWIW, I do feel players etc do get duped by our club when they are sold a vision of the club, and moreso the 'unique' Anfield and its 'educated' football fans, and the European nights etc etc, which bares little reality to the real situation and experience they find themselves in once they have signed the papers.

My heart say I'd love us t get him, but my head is very reluctant.

ATM I, personally, wouldn't do it as for the amount of money involved, and how this would impinge on future purchases that we need.

Does he really want to win anymore, or is he just after the big pay as he gets older? I'm not sure.

I think he would be too much of a gamble for the money involved and it could quite easily backfire and end up a mess like with Sahin.

EDIT - I feel compelled to address this idea of us signing Sneidjer and then coming 4th. Whether we get him or not Liverpool won't be close to 4th this season. Its just too soon for this team, and BR has still to bring in all his own players he wants. Were not consistent or even good enough for that yet. Its you or Arsenal.

I don't know any Liverpool supporter who thinks 4th is achievable TBH. The club is working to a plan of top 4 by the end of 2014-15 season. That's what everything is geared towards and that's also if FSG don't get an offer they can't refuse. Its still quite unorganised off the field as well which is having a detrimental effect on the team/club.

I'll be gutted if he joins Liverpool or another premier league club. In life you have to take certain risks and this should be one of them

100K a week 3 and half year contract 7m fee for a player of his ability is not too bad (25m total deal which is probably what Porto want for Moutinho)

We need a sneijder type player more then moutinho

The Galatasaray's offer was something around the 100k mark. We can do that.
Isco is now out of our reach. He won't leave now as Malaga are in a good run in the CL, and apparently in june it's guardiola's first choice for Bayern.
Belhanda is nowhere near as good as Sneijder
I agree with you about Belhanda atm,

But I think the stuff coming out about Bayern is all bullshit as there is so much crazy shit being spouted, and he has a great midfield 3 in Martinez, Schweinsteiger and Kroos, with Gustavo and one or two others including Usami next season. So with Pep I dont think anyone knows what he is going to do imo

As for Isco he said he would leave if the club needed him and tbh the club finances are getting worse with payments owed and etc. I think that Man City and Chelsea are probably favourites for his sig but it is clear they both dont need him now. He will end up in the Prem imo and we still have a chance atm but we are not going to spend that type of money so in reality it is ship sailed sadly

I bet chelsea loaning Piazon to Malaga has something to do with Isco

I think our chance at Isco sailed last summer, he is now firmly in the same brackets as Oscar and only a little behind Hazard as one of the best young attacking midfield prospects. Spurs never seem to go all out on these players. Isco would probably cost around 15-17 mil and Levy would never pay that for this type of player... Well not till that player is more established and is being chased by all the top clubs in Europe of which we are not one so would therefor have no interest in coming... And so it goes on.

Heard some more on him earlier. Its quite detailed, so for the sake of brevity, he ain't coming to England unless either an English team (Utd if anyone) ups their offer vastly at the last minute, or player's Advisers agree to greatly reduce their demands at the last min.

LFC changed focus to Coutinho instead, wasn't just a smoke-screen as my mate thought it was.

No disrespect to Galatasary but he isn't relevant any more and that's a shame because he's still a quality player.
