That's a very good point. I hope it pans out, but even so I started off very much anti the idea of moving to Stratford, then ended up actually quite supportive of the idea, first financially, but also the whole aspect of what was on offer did seem to make more and more sense the more I thought it through. I know this won't please the anti mob, but the partnership with AEG (combined with the location and infrastructure) was actually potentially a huge fucking winner, creating a whole new, and very lucrative revenue stream that would have seen us really becoming a power house financially - and the bottom line is - that would have been our best chance of becoming a power house of English football.

I've got over three decades of memories tied to tottenham, but let's face it, it's not as if the people of Tottenham give a fuck about me really is it, they give a fuck about my disposable income and their little slice of it. Love is not what I feel coming back at me from the yardies, albanians and Somalis as I walk down from Northumberland Park on a Saturday. And most of us get the fuck out of Tottenham as soon as the games over don't we ? Why, if we fucking love it so much ?

The more I thought about it the more I realised it was Spurs I support, not Tottenham or Harringay Borough. And I was pretty sure once I was inside the OS stadium, I'd soon forget what the fuck was outside, like I do every time in WHL.

Great post mate

I just can't comprehend how, if Levy does resort back to the NDP as a viable project, all of a sudden, 56000 or more people can be imported and exported to and from the area without bringing Tottenham to a standstill.

As it is I drive in to the area and have to arrive two hours before the game to ensure I get in to the carpark. Add say another 10000 drivers to my mire and I'll be fucked.

Me.Me.Me. But that's what it boils down to really.

I've driven to games a few times before, and so long as you know the roads you can roll up 30 mins before kick off and park with no problems. It's actually got easier the last few years, I think most people just use their sat navs nowadays and just all sit in the same queue of traffic.

On public transport, even when the Victoria Line is closed for engineering works it really isn't that hard to get away from the ground. I'm not saying Stratford wouldn't be easier (although the walk will be a lot further than WHL), but I think people are overplaying how difficult it is to get away from Tottenham after a game. And besides, once we've got our shiny new stadium and all the immediate success that so many believe will come with it what's a half hour wait in the rain when we've just recorded yet another victory?

Just had a proper look at the West Ham picture of the inside of the OS. Has indeed got PL boards, CL boards, adverts for mini season tickets and La Liga boards.

Levy and Co have consistently stated they were looking at ways to extend capacity ever since they took over. The fact that this has taken nearly 10 years to put a plan together for the NDP indicates that the whole project has been incredibly complex from the start. I dont know why some people cant see this.

Also in regard to some of Levy's statements about the cost of it. When he was saying this back in 08/09 IMO he was banking on the economy picking up and lending conditions improving. This hasnt happened, so I can believe him when he says that it has become increasingly unviable, especially when you add in the increasing development costs etc.

Did you believe him when he said the NDP and staying in Tottenham was his final decision?
Did you believe him when he said the OS was a back up to the NDP?
Did you believe him when he said the OS was the first choice over the NDP?
Did you believe him when he said the NDP was currently not viable?
Did you believe him when he said the NDP had been abandoned?
Do you believe him now when he says the NDP is back on the agenda?

:bow:Spot on. Loved the "Love is not what I feel coming back at me from the yardies, albanians and Somalis as I walk down from Northumberland Park on a Saturday"

The multiculturalism in the area is one of the things I love most about Tottenham, aside from my beloved club. No, I rarely leave N17 as soon as is humanly possible; I go for something to eat and then hit the pub, though not necessarily in that order. I was gutted when the rice and peas place next to The Swan shut down but at least my favourite Turkish joint, Cirrik, is still going strong.

Aside from that, if you hate immigrants you really wouldn't have got on well in Stratford.

I agree the club had handled it shockingly with their continuously contradicting statements.

I still think the NDP would have had these problems even if the OS hadnt become available.

IMO the problems increased during the planning stages, the club buried their heads in the sand about them as they thought they would try and ride them out, given the desperate need for a new stadium. OS came along at a convenient time as they could finally had a get out from the NDP.

Fuck knows what we do now though

I believe that Levy has built a superb football club out of nothing more than a pathetic empty husk that we became under Sugar, in only 10 years. One that has a fantastic roster of players, a superb state of the art training ground almost finished, one that does more community work that any other club in the PL.

He may have not been communicating effectively through this process, but his hard work and strong leadership means that he has earn't the right to expect some faith and trust from us.

You obviously can't remember the regime before Sugar.

Irvin Scholar was on the brink of bankruptcy and Sugar bought the club :-|

Yep. There have been some dark days in our recent history post war. Yet the light ahead is dazzling!!

True. Scholar was bad too, but at least we had a great team for most of his tenure, although all the foundations it was built on were false.

I read on another site that
European Community rules prohibit tax payer’s money being “granted” to companies in order to win contracts.
Newham’s £40m under Treasury loan terms seems to me like a benefit from the state – in competition with other commercial competition (‘Spurs).
We haven’t heard the last of this. If the UK Govt is found to have breached these regs then there will be a punitive interest rate of repayment imposed on the borrower. West Ham.

I don't know how true this may be but if Spurs push for full audit if they feel the bid process has not been fair, this may come into play.

So you go down there during the week for a drink and a bite to eat ? Let's not bullshit ourselves.

Apart from a brief couple of years between 1988-90 when there were a couple raves, tottenham locks and the Dungeon and we were all too e'd up to give a shit, none of us would set foot in tottenham unless we had to, it's not exactly multiculturalism in that lovely bohemian urban cool kind of way is it.

Multiculturalism is beautiful, I'm wholeheartedly with you, but in Tottenham it's generally only the people that want my dough that look happy to see me on a saturday, to anyone else we are just a massive inconvenience, clogging up their roads, making a fucking mess.
