One person who seems to be avoiding criticism is lloris. His poor distribution cost us the equaliser. Wayward pass for the throw in.

He kept playing sanchez into trouble.

Also holding on to the ball refusing to kick long for a break and telling everyone to calm down when the last thing we needed was to fuck around at the back some more with the ball. Leadership of the wrong kind.

There’s honestly nothing more patronising than calling people “bed wetters” just because you don’t agree with their opinion. Especially when what people are saying about our performances isn’t particularly inaccurate.

If our performance tonight came off the back of excellent performances against Forest, Chelsea, Wolves & Soton and people were complaining then fair enough, call them out. But it’s not. We’ve been noticeably bad since Soton and people have every right to voice their concerns.

yes of the course they do, I just think the reactions are being amplified by arsenals current false position. There is reason for concern and plenty of room for criticism but some of its just pathetic.

Shite second half but I honestly believe had Romero and Bentancur being playing we'd have won that because we'd have gone comfortably 2 up.

West Ham were poor first half and we didn't really take advantage of that.

Bissouma took 45 to settle so you can understand why we had some issues.

But the biggest issue throughout the game was Sanchez, Dier and to an extent Davies.

Romero and Lenglet should help with this because if our CBs could be braver on the ball and actually pick passes out etc, we'd be causing more issues.

Sanchez is a major stumbling block in this respect cause you can just press him or let him have the ball but block of the other passing lanes.

Dier can play too many OTT passes at times. Whereas Davies isn't a great ball carrier even though he had space to do it.

It's not a problem for us defensively but in Conte's system defenders need to be part of the attacking patterns.

I'm not worried cause I believe Bissouma will adapt, Bentancur and Romero will be back. Lenglet will get a chance.

That will help us massively.

But we can't rely on some back up players to help the attacking system.
I disagree I don’t think the defenders were passing particularly badly but they were doing this for 80% of the game. If our game plan is to ‘let’ our defenders find the killer ball then it’s a rubbish system. We constantly went backwards when we had the ball in their half because we have no idea. Boring football and not winning football.

But it shouldn’t be his job to fine a great pass. It should be done to the rest or the team.

I respectfully disagree. Tonight was a classic example of a match crying out for us to place and pace and with penetration, Zaha & Traore give you that option. We played at walking pace and our front 3 look very disjointed at the moment.
Thought would put Spence on when ogbona came on, they looked tired 2nd half, suprised conte did not use our subs

Awful performance. No passion, no pace. Playing from the back like it was walking football. Conte ball, say hello to Jose ball. If that's the gameplan going forward, I'm out.

Once again, we didn't start fast. Play the middle fast. Or end fast. Turgid dross. In a London derby.

I would accept the point if West Ham were on top of their game and closing us down , crunching tackles etc but they were so placid until they realised if they press Sanchez and lloris they will get chances and what do we do ? Constantly pass back to Sanchez and lloris , I’m totally baffled by contes tactics tonight , lack of subs . Turning point was hojberg and his boot , game turned on it cos players were expecting him to be taken off whilst he was hobbling around the pitch .

Seems like Conte still doesn’t trust the bench. We looked sluggish in the second half and could have done with something different and at least some energy to stretch them but only brought on Richarlison. Spence or Doherty would surely have added another dynamic and Lenglet passing from the back might have made a difference too. A little odd for me that one but who am I to question it.

absolutely. and it's not only that, his keeping actions have been shaky as hell. bobbled a couple of shots and erratic on the air. even on the goal, while his keeping is very down in the pecking order of issues in the play, with Antonio having his back to the goal and a streaking Soucek down the left mid lane being the only active threat, he could have reduced the angle with a step in. instead Soucek gets a cleaner look and makes a near post finish on his classic stationary dive on the goal line. not trying to sound that it was a gimmie save but there are certainly aspects in his technical approach that are questionable.

Unless Romero stays fit throughout the season, I think we are going to struggle to get that 4th spot. When we are playing with our setup I believe we need players who are much better on the ball than the back five who played today. Perisic is better than the rest, but you can clearly see that Dier, Davies and Royal are completely dependent on the calmness of Romero to keep their composure in pressed situations. Together with Sanchez and Lloris (who are the least capable on the ball imo) they keep putting each other in awkward situations which makes all of them look worse than they do when playing with someone with real ability on the ball. In addition our counter attacking game suffers a lot from the inability to start our attacks in a good manner.

Trying hard not to be too reactive after a poor game, but there has been tendencies in many other games. I feel our defenders poor ability on the ball will be a real problem for us, unless Lenglet hits the ground running, but it’s a bit early to tell how that will pan out. My fear is that our strong finish without Romero in the team last season may have covered up some areas where we definitely need to improve, if we are to compete for the top positions.

I know the window isn’t closed yet, so there’s still hope, but I really feel we need someone at the back if the injury record of Romero keeps up.

Injuries have hit, today we were without Romero, Bentancur and Skip wasn't fit to play so our two midfielders had no relief for the 90 minutes and Hojberg was clearly not near 100% after his knock.
I'm not making excuses, I don't think we need excuses, but injuries have affected us already although we improved on our result from last season. Always was going to be a tough game and we're still not near our best.
But that’s it, considering our schedule I don’t see us having many games in the next month where our entire team is fit. A strong bench will have have a huge impact on every teams success and personally I find ours lacking.

I haven’t been overly impressed by any of our performances this season from an attacking stand point and to me it seems as tho our most important player in that regard is Romero, without his distribution and ability on the ball we look incredibly limited in our attacking movements. I do agree tho that if we can get settled and build some momentum then things could click, but I am a little concerned.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Hugo but in my humble opinion he’s holding us back, he 100% shouldn’t be Captain and although he’s a brilliant shot stopper and a good man but does he inspire us in times of need during games ?

In fairness, you have to criticise Conte to an extent for that if anyone. Hugo has never been good in that way, and isn't going to suddenly become so. He's being told to play in a way that he's not good at, and that's fine if we assume the risk, but I don't think you can slate him too much for repeatedly doing something that he is not very good at because he is being told to.

Indeed. Very good shot stopper, but he is Pub Team level with the ball at his feet.

He kicked it out, despite not being under any form of pressure. Goal keeper are used a lot more now to recycle the ball.
But why did it get to this a scenario? Because our ‘game plan’ is to pass backwards to waste time. It’s boring and just boring.
