Shoring up LWB with Davies was a good move (aka dropping Persisic to the bench). Is that the first time Davies has been there this season?
Giving Richarlison a start was a good move (aka dropping Sonny to the bench).
Keeping faith with Skipp was a good move - although Sarr might've had a tweak that forced that anyway.
Seeing Royal playing inside Kulusevski when we're attacking is good stuff and hard for opponents to track.

We have seen some decent tactical decisions in these two games that Conte has been out sick for. I'm hoping it's coincidence that he's been out rather than his staff seeing and implementing things that he refuses to do.

We need lots more of this rather than watching poor performances and not addressing issues. The Leicester result was very deflating because it was so shambolic at just the time when the season comes to a crunch. There's a lot to play for this season if we can just win some games in a row. United are showing that and are getting towards a title challenge if they keep it going.

Do you think it’s just the form of Emerson keeping Porro out or do you think they have found him a bit lightweight to come straight in?

Conte's wing backs have to do exactly what he demands so it is not surprise to me that he is learning his role on the training pitch. He was horribly exposed in his first game for us.

Much better than last week. Another good display from Emerson, and Sonny again looking sharper off the bench with a bit of space in front of him. Clean sheet too!
Moyes West Ham though, far easier for Dier and co to deal with, than Rogers fast paced Leicester.

Sonny at first did look better till he started to revert back to taking too many touches and thinking he can hold the ball up with several opposition around him.

Not had time to read the thread but just wanted to say how on earth can the VAR watch that handball and not think penalty all day long?
My opinion was he had no time to react and I dont think penalties should be awarded in situations like that (last weeks with the other West Ham player I felt should have been given), however the rules are stupid and inconsistent.

Made me chuckle that the commentator mentioned that it's not a hand-ball if the player is using that arm to break his fall. He didn't even fall over, literally just waved his arm down. ?
It is a free kick anywhere else on the field - If our striker did that it would be a free kick against. So why is a defender allowed to do that - especially when the path of the ball is direct to another player about to shoot. There is something seriously wrong with the rules for that not to be a penalty.

What will happen now is Dier will start to think 'I can keep my arms beside me' and I guarantee against one of the big teams in a final the ball will hit his hand and be a penalty against us.

Having read back through the thread it’s increasingly clear that Danjuma is Gareth Bale reborn - despite having played about 2 minutes of football.

Good to see the lessons of Spence have been learned :cautious:

Not giving us a penalty for that hand ball has to be the worst decision in the PL this season. You can’t get more hand ball than that
If the player was using his hand to steady himself as he was falling his palm would have been facing the ground. It was not so it must be a penalty.

It was the other end of the ground to me so couldn’t tell during the game but seeing the replays last night it looked a definite penalty. I’m not sure how it can be argued that it wasn’t. We should make a fuss really unless that’s being too Arsenal about it!

I think if we hadn't won there would have been.

Having said that we need to get our GD rolling in the right direction so another +1 would have helped.

First game since the opening of stadium against Palace and it was amazing to be back. The sound when the chants happened was incredible. Was at Stamford Bridge the previous day for their game against saints and it just shows how amazing our stadium is when you see them one after the other.

Saw Davies got MOTM on sky but for me Emerson & our 2 CM's were very good. Emerson just grew in confidence as the game went on especially after his goal. Some of his little flicks in 2nd half were quality.

Still buzzing that I got to see the game live and even through the shit times (which let's be honest if you've supported spurs for long enough you know this isn't a shit time) being lucky enough to go to games is quality and helps remind you why you love footie & spurs.

We should make a lot of fuss like Arsenal did and Ole used to do at United then we might get decisions. Problem we are to nice and don't, only certain teams like United, lpool, Arsenal get the Var decisions its so unfair.

Another tactical tweak by stellini to prevent the midfield being over run. Last time was dier pushing up, this time royal coming inside (playing like a pep fullback ;-) )
A genuine question - you really think Stellini did these both at the spur moment of the games, and these decisions were not laid out and discussed before between him and Conte?

Pretty sure stellini said after city game it was him and mason that came up with that idea. No doubt they ran it past conte though!

A genuine question - but does anyone feel the work rate has been much higher in the 2 recent games that Conte hasn’t been in charge for ( city and yesterday ) ?

Stellini said yesterday he received a few texts from Conte during the game as well as himself & mason being allowed to make decisions themselves.

I'm sure conte sees a lot more on TV that he can pass through

On reflection from yesterday I'm still of the same mindset.

It was a poor game between what looked like two poor teams. I think both Emerson and Davies did ok but going forward that is going to offer nowhere near enough creativity especially when you look at the central midfield options.

I think Richarlison offered what I thought he would. He can be really effective on the press and create situations which I think he did a couple of times yesterday
If both he and Son have to keep coming deep though they're both going to struggle as getting the ball in tight situations in midfield isn't their game.

The defence I think did well against the usually dangerous Antonio but in not sure if it's the same Antonio this season so I'm hesitant to think they turned a corner.

Overall a great result but let's not get carried away. I'll start signing from the happy songs sheet if we put three or four of these together in a row because convincing we were not and having seen United smash Leicester yesterday I think it's wise to proceed with caution where this team is concerned.
