A truly eventful day.

Wish I could mass-rep everyone for not having seen the phrase "amaze-balls" used even once.

(cue someone quoting me stupid)

t
I'm very interested to see what reception he'll get. Personally I'll just ignore him & focus on our own manager/team but I've no idea what the general consensus is?
Knowing harry he'll be expecting some sort of hero's welcome which I'm not sure he'll get. There certainly shouldn't be any bad feeling/booing though.
Give him a-round of applause & leave it at that.. save the songs for the team & Pochettino.. & when we win;) we can sing for Harry

@panties Wow you can't stand up to any criticism can you? I'm clearly in the right, but now you've neg repped me 4x for no reason. I'll steer clear of going down that path, but hopefully everyone here can see what kind of a person you really are.

I think all the positive rep you have otherwise just goes to show you should keep on posting as the majority approve. (y)

Edit: quality avatar pic. happy times.

Only managed to catch the last 40 or so mins of the game. Surprised how much that can seem to change perspective.

Bentaleb was one of the stand out players in that spell for me, so I'm surprised to read the last few pages of him being slated, must have had a shocker first half!

The kid is gonna be a big talent. He has something special about him. He was a driving force for us in our second half fight back. Always got the bollocks to get on the ball and try and make stuff happen. Got great confidence and composure for one so young, especially as he was basically alone in CM after the sending off. We can't overplay him like Tim did, but he deserves to play a big part IMO.

I'm not as negative about the game as the majority it seems, but I was always gonna reserve judgement until after the first couple of home games anyway, that's when we'll have more of a barometer. You can't base judgement on a crazy game like today where we got a terrible red card after half an hour.

Yes attacking wasn't great, but Lamela and Eriksen were no worse than Cazorla and Sanchez today, and that lot were at home! Not to mention the Everton and Utd results.

From the 55 min mark I started to see us starting to press west ham with 10 men after weathering the storm, which eventually led to their red card. Finally some bollocks from a spurs team against adversity for once! Poch then made some effective substitutions, on top of his excellent (with hindsight) decision to shift Capoue back following the Naughton red. It has also been mentioned by a sky journo that Poch had us doing 10v11 training!

Finally there is the team spirit aspect. Poch and the team seem to have real belief this year, which I really hope continues, because if the players had the attitude of some people on here, we would never have won that game today.

Let's just wait and see how we get on at the lane for the next two games before trying to compare this side to last years train wreck of a season...

I could not agree more - Bentaleb is already a top player and he will only get much better. His distribution, positional sense, discipline are all of a player of much more maturity. He keeps things ticking and that should not be underrated - Modric and Carrick do the same.

Remy looked very sharp today and Depay clearly had a blinder. Would be very happy with either but not sure if I'd sacrifice Townsend just yet (say for Remy). He's a fighter, and has a never say die attitude, which is why despite his short comings I wouldn't bet against him continuing to improve.

I definitely wouldn't let Townsend go but I really like Depay and Remy so the two to go has to be Soldado and Lennon.

Seems pretty clear from todays team that the manager doesn't rate Dawson,Chiriches,Sandro and especially Soldado.

Very good post, and that bit in bold is one of the most true and accurate statements I've read all day. Spot on brother! (y)

114 points still on! To be honest for most of the match we were pretty Dier (Dire) and it was very Noble of West Ham to miss the penalty..........................................

I'll get my coat

Interesting to see if Naughton's Red card is overturned.

You would think it will be just on the fact that most sane people (Rudd Gullit need not apply) thought it was a joke decision. But this is magnified if you think back to last season when Oxalade Chamberlain actually did a deliberate goal line save (the one with the "racist" mistaken identity) and his red (once reattributed) was then overturned as the ball was not going in.

Makes yesterday's red even harder to swallow, as the joke linseman could never tell from where he was if the ball was goal bound.
