I don't know why we're having so many problems at the back, when according to this thread we have potentially world class centre backs in Caceres, Carceres, Carcaras, Carecas and Cackers to choose from. "

:ROFLMAO:

He obviously don't realise, that it's because they have to stop both Eriksen, Erikson, Ericsson, Ericsen and Ekson.

Yeah but what have their players ever done for us?

*give us some of the most individual brilliance ever seen in a Spurs shirt.

Yeah but apart from that?

*Made us £90m in one transfer

Well yeah but that aside?

*Stole the best defender in the league from under their noses...

But what else?

*Given us a beast who is possibly our player of the season this year

Yes but what have they ever really done for us?

*let Ronnie Rosenthal score a hatrick against them

(I'll keep this going):

Ok fine but that's it surely!

*Oh yeah, and given us one of the best young managers on earth...

Holy fuck. How could I forget Poch! I knew there was someone missing I just couldn't place my finger on it. Ah well it's not as if he's the most important out of the lot of them.....

OK. So we've taken a few decent players off Southampton, but we've also sold them a few players so, surely, our relationship with them can't have been all bad. Let's see, there was....

Tommy Forecast, a talented youth keeper, who cost them £200k, never played for them and got renamed 'Tommy Fourpast' by their fans.

Hmm. Who else. Ah yes

Jamie Redknapp, who played 16 games for them before retiring with injury, and David Howells, who played 9 games for them before retiring with injury.

OK. Anyone else?

Frank Saul. He was a decent goal-scorer for us and went to them as part of the Martin Chivers deal. He was intended to replaced Chivers as Southampton's 1-in-2 striker and scored, uh, 2 goals in 50 games.

Hmm. They really do have reason not to like us, don't they? To be fair though, none of these players cost them very much, if anything at all. Surely, they'd only have reason to despise us if they'd splashed out serious money on a player from us...

Ah, here we go, in 2006, Southampton paid Tottenham £2m for....

Grzegorz Rasiak

OK. Maybe they do have good cause to hate us after all.

never understood the vitriol we received when Glenn left them for us. This was Glenn Hoddle

Wouldn't Matt Le Tissier have wanted to manage Southampton if he had gone into management? Would anyone have blamed him, let alone nursed a 15 year grudge.

No wonder I always preferred Pompey (until that Judas bastard played for them).

Wasn't more to do with him saying he wouldn't take any players and then coming back for Dean Richards? Or maybe my old mind is playing tricks on me.

I tend to cut Soton and their fans a bit of slack . We complain for years if even one player is poached by a bigger club . Those poor fuckers have entire teams and managers removed after a good season . But they still come back again after each massive setback .

It is a bit remarkable...so for me , they can mouth off a bit no worries .

I'm going to ignore Bale, Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain as they were all teenagers when they left them, after only playing a handful of games and they weren't in the Premier League. Am also going to ignore Toby because he was only on loan and rejected the chance to make it permanent.

If they'd held onto their team they could have had this:

Forster

Clyne
Van Dijk
Lovren
Shaw

Wanyama
Schneiderlin
Lallana

Mane
Gabbiadini
Tadic

Manager: Pochettino (or Koeman).

Don't think they'd win the league but they'd definitely push hard for top four. That team on paper is no worse than the Leicester side that won the league last season.

Tottenham are a very good team, it was always going to be tricky. Losing by only 1 goal to them is nothing to be ashamed about.

It's not really "end of" is it. We were the better side against a fantastic Spurs team. 2-2 would have flattered Spurs I think. It is clear that there is no gulf in class between the two sides and I for one am exited about what's to come from this team.
That was an ok performance, let's not forget Spurs have been devasting at home this season and we had them on the back foot for most of the second half. Long and Davis just aren't good enough for this league, Boufal needs to cut out the tricks and play. The ref made two poor decisions with the penalties but it's difficult when you have a persistent diving cheating c...t in your team that is the obnoxious Deli Alli.
