some of you might think its a bit voyeuristic of me to be on their forum but my brother is a united fan and is constantly on it so any time i see spurs mentioned i get curious because its reasonably objective compared to our rose tinted views

they pan zokora for what its worth

The intelligence level of a typical Man U supporter? One who thinks that calling Spurs, 'Spoons' is an insult.

Or Spuds, you really would think the average football fan could think of something atleast a little insulting or humourous in some way.

Quote from a visiting Scum fan:

Palacios wasn't that good yesterday, he faded after about 30 mins and in the second half got little change out of Song despite us having 10 men.

What a condom-filler! Palacios was MOTM by a long way. And their precious Song got fuck all out of him.

Exactly. I mean, you could argue that Spuds is very very very mildly disparaging, if you really tried to see the insult. But 'Spoons'? Dear Christ!

hmmm, mixed views on there.. I agree with the post saying he creates an imbalance in the side, its been our problem all season.. And yes, getting Palacios will help that immensely.
Onlya Gooner on there didn't rate Palacios, even saying Song was better than him yesterday?? Are all Gooners blind?? Does the blindness stem from the managment, through the players, and into the fans?? God, they just really dont like us having better players than them, shit heads.

I think we're expecting a little too much from the poor ickle Scum fans. Most of them are labouring under the total lack of discernment when choosing a football club to support in the first place. Add that to the vast proportion of brain they have to commit to complex tasks like breathing and drooling. But their struggle doesn't end there. Many of them have also got to tackle the task of dragging their mutated corpses to and from the job centre once a fortnight.

Expecting them then to be able to identify the blindingly obvious might be a bridge too far.

Umm most of them said he was quite good, but nowhere near top class.

I have to agree at the moment.

Who cares? Does anyone listen to any "big four" fans about football at all, I just switch off when I hear who they support, whether or not they might actually know what they're talking about.

I also have to agree. He does some great things, like his close control, running with the ball and taking up good positions, but his decision making in the final third and shooting abilities are too often lacking. If he can improve on these two key facets he will be one hell of a player.

Yep, this.

Luka has been brilliant in some games for us, but virtually anonymous in others. He is always a willing receiver of the ball regardless of if he's playing well or badly (which is a great thing to have in a team), but equally his goal/assist return has not been what you'd hope for from a midfielder who doesn't give you much defensively. The good has outweighed the bad so far this season (and I have no doubts that he'd be doing even better if he was playing in a team that has had less disruption than the Spurs of 08/09, and that he'll be much better next season), but I think that only supporters with the most rose-tinted specs could say that he has been an unqualified success so far this season, let alone argue that he has been our best player.

In short, he's been fairly good, but there are definitely significant improvements to be made... and all things being equal, he has a very good chance of making the step up we need him to in future.

Some quite vaild points made by them I thought. At least a few of them have the right idea by judging him not now but this time next year. He's already improving steadily for us and I for one would prefer a gradual and consistent development rather then just flash-in-the-pan moments of brilliantness.

They've only had one game together so far, obviously, but sooner or later we'll see the 'Stoke' Modric and the 'Arsenal' Palacios putting in similar or better performances but in the same games. When they start doing that regularly together the rest of the premiership had better be ready.

Modric has yet to convince me that we should change formations just to accommodate him in the team.
He has had 2/3 good games, has drifted in and out of others and completely disappeared in some other games.
I think he is a good little player but unsure if he will flourish in this league with Spurs.
For me the jury is still out,he really needs to start regularly making his mark in games.

I think the main thing to me is that he is certainly improving which is very encouraging. If you compare yesterdays performance with some from early in the season there are definately green shoots there. He looks a lot stronger and rides challenges better, I think some of the problem is the attackers, we have changed them so much. It takes 2 players to make a good pass, quite often he holds on to the ball because of lack of options. Once they strike up understandings he will flourish, its a shame that Jermain got injured because I definately thought they were on similar wavelengths.
