You know what's more pathetic than your neg reps without explanation? Watching Gomes curl up into a little ball after face-palming the ball into the back of his own net.

Fuck Gomes. And you guys....meh, I can't be arsed bothering with people with amnesia or two day's worth of Spurs-fan experience. (y)

Guessing from the time of your post that you went out on the pull only to return home with the remains of an overpriced kebab.

See, i bet Gomes is better with the ladies than you.

I always loved Gomes. Seemed like a really great teammate - decent, honest, humble background, a bit mad and was brilliant the year we qualified for Champions League. There was a side to him when he seemed to get hurt easily but he's human with flaws like us all. That's my explanation.

Really happy for him and glad to see him back in the PL. It's easy to forget his contribution in season 09-10, and the clean sheets he kept in 08-09, as people always find the negatives in everything but he will certainly get a warm welcome back at the Lane from me!!!

Our jittery defense at the time gave him the jitters.

Hmmm. You could equally argue that having calamity gomes behind them gave our defence even more jitters that usual.

Either way, he's a supremely talented keeper with an incredibly weak mentality and lack of focus.

One of the best shot stoppers i've seen in a Spurs shirt. While he was brilliant at that, he did make a few howlers

Although I was never his biggest fan because of his howlers, I did set up a Youtube account dedicated to his wonder saves ages ago, Youtube has since removed a few of them but there is the remaining ones

Happy to see Gomes up, but our defence is very jittery now and Friedel and Lloris have both managed absolutely fine.

Will be a bit surprised if he lasts the season tbh.

Not seen him play for Watford but I'm Supprised he lasted the season in the championship tbh, would imagine he was roughed up from time to time.
Great shot stopper but was way too weak mentally and physically

Myself and my brother always pronounce his name as to rhyme with gnomes or homes.

(But obviously with a "G" as in Got at the start)

Gomes.

Plural of Gome.

Apparently:

Heurelho Gomes "I would not recommend playing for Tottenham to anybody. It is a difficult club and they make promises that do not happen"

Sounds like a bitter little bitch

"I would not recommend playing for Tottenham to anybody. It is a difficult club and they make promises that do not happen"
"Lamela was a great promise in Europe, but they didn't help him settle. You watch games and he looks like he cannot play Football"
"Tottenham only buy players and expect them to play well without any kind of support to adapt"
"When you are unhappy and struggling to adapt here, you voice your problems; they do not care. Nothing happens. They just ignore you"
"Paulinho still has a market in Europe, teams know he has quality. But it's a hard place to adapt, and especially without help"

I think he was treated very very poorly indeed by the club & the fans too. I don't blame him for his comments, & what's more they sound like they'd be not far off the mark Tbf

I have to agree he was literally given the cold shoulder. The club basically gave in to the media witch hunt and the fans sucked it all in.

England is not like some parts of Europe or South America. They're wrapped up in cotton wool in other parts, they even make sure they bring food to your house, help you buy a house, have people calling in on you, they're almost babyfed. Hernan Crespo and Veron complained about it too while being in England that no one would bring them a loaf of bread! lol

Gomes had no mental strength whatsoever, teams sussed him out and whipped in crosses, long shots and everything to wreck his confidence. If you aren't mentally strong in your late 20's you're never going to be.

I don't think that's a Tottenham thing, I think it's more of an English thing. Although footballers are babied by their agents, sorting out interviews, meetings, payments etc, they're no way as bad as it is abroad. England must seem rather cold to a newcomer

Knowing that, what did we do to prevent them?

So do I. I also pronounce Suarez as Swarze, and others similarly.
