I heard that he an Pochettino showed up with identical tattoos, and kept talking about "what happened in ***** stays in *****, Kevin" for days. Don't know what happened, but safe to say things are awkward ...
On a serious note, I love how we always miss the players who haven't played in a while when things don't run smoothly. There is always some player from the consistent starting 11 that should be swapped with somebody who hasn't played for months.
The target of this is always going to be Vertonghen. He is so under appreciated, it's embarrassing. Gets so much unwarranted hate. I especially dont get it now. Vertonghen is a good footballer & not a good defender for.
He's also become too comfortable about his position in the team, which is why I'd like to see Wimmer a go in the team & have Vert's warming the bench for a few games, assuming Wimmer's performances warrant staying in the team.

Yesterday I think they were equally good defenders. Adding Alderweirelds goal obviously is a big plus. But for the season overall, I'm in no doubt that Vertonghen is the best CB in the squad so far this season.
He is actually a really good defender, and the squad's most underrated player so far this season.

Some of the Vertonghen stick has gone a bit far I agree. But come on lads, no way in hell has he had a better season than Toby, and he was certainly a good deal worse than him last night.

It's nothing to do with either of those things - it's because we keep seeing CCV on the bench and not our obvious third choice CB who is Wimmer. I'm simply asking where he is because he doesn't appear to be in Poch's plans and that's rather strange considering how excellent he was when he played last season, the fact that he isn't injured, and we've heard nothing about him since the Australia tour.

Not according to PhysioRoom - usually if a player isn't officially injured but still isn't fit to play the official site will mention them during the team news round-up but he's been nowhere to be seen.
Have to see what comes out today, would love a journo to ask at the press conference.
Read this thread. Many people, quite wrongly might i add, want Wimmer to replace Vertonghen in the team. It's embarassing. Guy's been our best defensive player this year. He getting wayy too much stick because he hated a fucking manager that everyone else hated also and had a bad attitude while being managed by that dick head.
