I was calling for Wimmer to get some prem games prior to Verts injury last season, I am sure if Verts did not get injured Wimmer still would be waiting to play a full game in the premier.Something is rotten. Prior to Toby's injury Poch could have rested Vertonghen or done a sub for Wimmer in a game or two. Keep the squad happy and keep the players fresh and ready.
Sorry, I farted.
Wimmer is a better CB than Dier though (at this stage), I don't really buy this right foot left foot nonsense
Something is rotten in Denmark
Buy it or don't, but it's abundantly clear Poch adheres to it, people have pointed out why many times in tactical analyses, and we've beaten this to death.
With wingbacks sitting higher up the pitch, for both passing and tackling purposes, it is advantageous to have the CB's on their strong feet facing outwards. In this high line system with high wingbacks system, one weak-footed mistake from the two CB's, regardless of how good these guys are, can be extremely costly. There is a reason to Poch's rhyme on this matter, and it's so boring seeing it come up so often. The man played CB in a World Cup Final ffs, what right do you or anyone have to question this man on his own position?
As for something stinking, I agree with you on that. I don't understand why Wimmer can't even beat CCV to the bench after his performances in Vertonghen's absence last term. This is a very confusing absence from the teams, and it does reek of something behind the public eye.
I do prefer defefenders to be on the correct side, the problem is Dier passed today like he had two left feet.

Yeah I think he's lost a bit of confidence recently, and that's understandable given how football has been to him since the summer. He's young, facing a lot of pressure in from various sides, and facing his first real competition at the club. I suspect it'll take him some time to come around, but I have full confidence in the guy to pull it off and get back to where he needs to be mentally.
I think you answered this in your first part. With Walker out, we had Davies on the bench as the FB sub. If an injury occurred, Davies could step in for Rose or Vertonghen. If an injury occurred to Dier or Trippier, then Poch probably wanted a right-footed defender to be able to step in - CCV.
Because it wouldn't make sense.Don't know why we're not even giving him bench time. Dude's gonna bolt. Stupid; he's a proper good player.
