The way this poll is going to work is by choosing any two of the players put down (as it is a multichoice poll). I have done it this way instead of putting down all the partnerships as I feel that it will give clearer results if I do it this way. Please only pick two players, I will put VDV/Modric/Gio in as well if you are considering 4-5-1 (with the second player chosen being the foremost midfielder). Please bear in mind this is NOT picking your favourite player necessarily, so not picking VDV doesn't mean he shouldn't play but just that you would want to play a 4-4-2 instead with another two up front. The poll will also say the names of who voted and where.

I was thinking of doing this for every position by the way, so we could have a distinctive "SC" team, but the main problem is players like Bale who can play in two positions... the only way I could think to counter this would be to have ANOTHER poll like "where should we play bale" and then stick him in that category... too complicated/too many polls though? It would be conducted over the course of a few weeks/months. If anyone has any ideas please PM me or post on this thread, thanks

Defoe as the advanced forward with VDV playing as the deep lying forward. Away from home I would maybe go for Crouch or Pav with VDV....

After yesterday it would have to be Defoe up top with VDV playing a Rooney role behind. PC would be an excellent impact sub later.

Close call between Defoe and Pav for the starting lone striker role.

Horses for courses indeed. Still felt I should vote and actually went for Crouch in front of VDV because he's the one forward we have who can at times be genuinely undefendable. If we can knit VDV into the team in a 4-5-1, then Crouch gives us something extra. I just have too many reservations about Defoe or Pav consistently troubling a seriously good defence on their own.
