Very weird how they seem to fluctuate, especially with talksport spending all morning linking him to Chelsea who have thousands of listeners who probably like a flutter.

Yes i agree but also how many times have we seen poch at completely reduced odds to leave.... until a market is suspended on a player then i would look into it more

we were 6/1 at some point this morning with chelsea at 6/4

Someone did post something on one of the threads about how the odds with players cant remember who so if you read this post then let us all know again please
Can't recall who it was but they said they worked for one of the major betting sites and asked someone there how they came up with odds, and the guy told him they have contacts throughout the sport (agents, etc) and will get info from them.

I think it's safe to say that betting companies manipulate their odds to reel punters into thinking something is happening thus resulting in a quick quid here and there made on something fabricated.

There might be something in it, there probably isn't because betting companies have a track record of manipulating people into thinking something will happen by shortening the odds. Classic bookies trick in horse racing, transfers etc

If he really is off to Chelsea then Sky Bet are offering good value at 9/2 (5.5). They have us at 13/8 (2.63). The other main bookies are following a similar trend. I know which way I'd be tempted to bet.

That would be me, I said
"I work at head office for a betting company (one of the big ones) and my first day I asked about transfers and how can they ajust the odds on to what information they hear. Apparently they have a team dedicated for finding which agencies meet clubs and all the rest of it. So to see the odds get slashed can only be a good thing."

What I failed to mention on top of this is for the odds they are tied into an algorithm of what the team knows and how many bets are placed on that day. So when Chelsea are linked this morning the price dived down this was due to the media coverage and punters going for it. It applies the same for any market of betting e.g. horses how healthy they are and how many bets are placed on the horse. What is interesting is the odds for us has dived in two days without any media coverage of saying he wants to come to us.

Edit: he is still favourite to stay at Crystal Palace at 4/5 but we are favourites over Chelsea if he leaves!

Good point, most people still suspect he's off, keep flip flopping the odds and backers will follow the trend of who's odds are shortening.

However money placed also has to have a bearing and I can't see how any media reports in the last 24 hours would have more money going on us vs Chelsea.

It's an interesting thing to point out but I don't think you can put any stock in it.

We’re in turmoil also. At this point, our manager and our top players are liable to leave next summer and i wouldnt blame them one bit.

You do realise you say this every summer and every next summer you're wrong. It's like you haven't learnt anything over the past decade of transfer windows

Wow, like a rollercoaster of odds? One day everyone is believing one thing and the next meltdown?
