Gallas is a top man, he praised us as well as hoping that we will do well next year in all competitions including Champions league.
Agree, he came and was fully committed for us, helped us go to the next level and I'll always respect him. He's right in part we need more experience and we need to be less naive last year. Everyone is right about Monaco but they were just like us from the Bale VDV era. A team packed with quality that will get asset stripped.

I thought it was depth that we lacked moreso than experience. We didn't have enough depth to field 2 teams a week with enough class to compete in UCL and EPL.

I reckon the technically gifted Europeans tend to surprise our boys . Our England 5 too don't seem to shine vs skilled foreign tplayers Also , as the man says , Poch and the boys don't have a lot of experience and can only get better .

Irritating that Utd won Europa with what on paper is a poorer team . We haven't come close :(

A lot of football analysis is essentially hot air. Young team does poorly? Inexperienced. Young team does well? They play without fear. Old team does poorly? Too old, don't have the legs. Old team does well? Using their experience.

Full quotes on CL:

"It was a big shame what happened to them last season but this Tottenham squad is a little too young for the Champions League. Against Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen in the group games, it showed that they needed more experience.

“The Champions League is different to the Premier League. You need experience, you need to be more clever and stay focussed. If you compare our squad back then with now, we had many older and more experienced players. Hopefully, they will have learned from last season’s experience - and be better for it.

On finishing above Arsenal:

“They had gone very close the previous season - and lost out to Arsenal on the last day. Maybe they learned from their mistakes this time.”

Very clear he's talking about last season's campaign, very misleading headline. And actually what he says is more consistent with thinking we'll get better next year. If anything, he's defending the side.

As for Monaco not having experience - Falcao's won the Europa League twice, Moutinho once. Yes they've got an amazing crop of youngsters but they've got a couple of old heads too.
Losing to GENK !!! What was that all about?

We have the players.....providing we don't let any go which seems unlikely..... and with a couple of additions our squad will be stronger and wiser. However it depends on how seriously Poch takes it especially in the early stages as I feel he blew it last year in not playing our strongest sides in some of the games. I believe he was looking at the Prem title and the rest was secondry even the EL which I am sure it's something we could have won as we were a better side than Utd.and he could do the same this year but I hope not.

I don't think experience alone is the determining factor.

I think we needed a deep lying midfield to hold onto the ball and dictate play. It just felt like we were less intelligent in our possession than our opponents at times.

But I believe our players will be very determined to make a better go of it next season. That bit of experience and youthful enthusiasm will result in better CL performances next season.

Not sure our game is that well suited to European football, especially the early awkward stages.

We make a real meal of it.

Our record at Wembley vs our record at WHL last season is hard to argue with.
Our opponents at Wembley were of a much higher standard on average than our opponents at WHL and we were playing in bigger games.

Completely agree with Gallas view. Our teams requires 1 or 2 experienced heads, especially someone who has won it before - like kind of effect Davids or VDV had on the squad.

But such players are not easy to get; Moreover, it kind of goes against the current recruitment policy. But I really hope, Poch sees this valid point & gets atleast 1 such player.

In realistic terms, someone like Höwedes, Moutinho, Gamiero, Mario Gomez -would help us in a long way.

I really think that is rubbish. Jan, Toby and Hugo have all won enough.

Kevin Gameiro??? Howedes??? They wouldn't start for us anyway.

Lloris, Jan, Toby only won leagues in their weak home leagues. Lloris came so close last summer to win Euros, unfortunately couldn't cross the final hurdle

Gamiero won Europa League 3 consecutive times...and a player still in form in La Liga & CL.
Howedes won a FIFA world cup...a left sided CB/LB who could come in for Wimmer.

We don't need these experienced heads to start a game. But need experience to guide us through games & finish it.
The list I gave is a realistic one, where players are gettable & within our fee & wage limit.

I could have said some fantasy players like Dani Alves. Walker out & Alves in would have been awesome business ,but thats never going to happen.
