To keep the momentum going the womens game will need to keep getting better. The game and leagues as a whole that is. Mens football was already starting from a stronger position but Italia 90 raised the bar and the newer fans could watch a league game of at least as high quality as you see at a tournament. The WSL has only really just started so it's not going to be there yet but the work it's doing will have to continue.

Question...Womens football can not be critised as like the mens-why? After yesterdays outcome do we take them serious or not. At what point can we scrutinise ability.
Womens football has ALWAYS been open to scrutiny. Players can be shit, teams can be shit and no one Ive ever walked into at a womens game has had a problem with that.

If you say goalkeeping is shit, BECAUSE shes a woman, people will rightly have an issue.

If you say women shouldn't play football because an individual player made a mistake, people will rightly have an issue.

Men don't have to deal with that. People aren't telling men they can't play because Karius chucked a ball in his own goal during a CL final.

People also don't expect Havant and Waterlooville to be the same technical level as the Premier League, because that would be fucking insane. Its a different product and people know that when they tune in.

If you want to scrutinise ability on pure ability, theres plenty of people to talk to, I'll direct you to the right corners of SM/blogging where I've been criticising Spurs women in front of goal all season. People agree. When its just football, people agree. In fact, players actively prefer it that way, we've talked to many who back that up. If they play a bad game, they don't want to be told they were inspirational blah blah blah.

Take them seriously by scrutinising their ability please, but by doing so in the right, non-caveman way. That's all they ask really.

Season tickets for Spurs women are £70 for adults and include some cup games plus any at WHL.

I'm probably going to buy one if I stay in London and I think at that price many more could, too.

The subject is on a public forum which is open to conversation.
All sports have s level and within that level it can be questioned. I would not compare to men and never have done. Your reply is exactly what I’m questioning. Your suppressing views by your dismissive reply. Their game is demonstrating for the same wage/stadiums/Tv rights as men, it’s not that good ( which you have suggested).
You asked the question, you got a well reasoned and nuanced reply.

Somehow that offended you?

How does the WSL bridge the gap to the PL in terms of TV revenue?

The PL currently gets about £10b over the 22-25 period, whereas the WSL got £24m over 3 years.

Does anyone at the FA actually have a plan on how to market and sell the product?

And that's without the commerical deals that the Premier League has outside the TV deals.

Why? You only comment on a.forum.when you like the subject?

It has been explained why.

If you want to directly compare women's football to elite men's football then it's still treated differently to, say, men's non-league football.

Nobody goes on a forum about semi-pro men's football to constantly decry how poor it is in contrast to the Premier League. Even though the men's game at that level is probably better funded and institutionally secure than the top level of the women's game. Not to mention the fact they share the same genetic/biological traits as Premier League players.

Many players in the England women's squad have had to maintain full time jobs alongside their football careers. They all still earn in a year what most Premier League players earn over a single weekend. In fact they all probably earn less than you.

Of course everyone is free to discuss what they like. And everyone else is free to discuss how dumb their argument is. And how bigoted some of them are.

Yeah, tbh, I’ve never stumbled into the horse racing group to tell everyone how fucking shit it is when I only have a passing knowledge and it’s only going to annoy people, I just leave them people that like it to do their thing that they enjoy …not tricky really

Lol no doesn't work like that. It is an open forum you choose your way to interact others will decide their way.

I agree with some of that but that is not the point I was making.

Of course it is, same way someone can then call them out on it…which you have an issue with!

Just because you can comment on something, doesn’t mean you have to, that’s the story of the internet it seems

I quite like the idea now you've put it into my head actually.

'I don't see what's wrong with a good pint tbh. I see you there sipping your shorts and it's all cos you can't handle a pint, you lightweight wankers'.

Right. That's the Whisky thread sorted. What's next?

Got my ticket for the game vs U.S.A.! £11.50 behind the goal including the booking fee, pretty cheap for what should be a good night out!

I'm looking forward to this. Its most likely going to result in nothing (leading the running), an article about America (a women's team that far outsells/outsucceeds the men) or an article from Europe where a team wants fair pay, not equal pay.

I just watched GMTV interview back heel nutmeg hero Russo. They commended her or becoming the first woman with a £1 Million transfer fee and how that will help to advance Women's football, then promptly rolled out her ex head teacher (shes 23) and questions like "did you ever have to sit outside Mr Robins room " came forth.....they give with one hand...
