I will say tho, if Levy forked out the money i think we would have a decent shot at him. The fact that his is cup tied in the CL will put many teams off and at Spurs he would be given the opportunity to be the mainstay of our attacking midfield. Saying that i doubt Levy will pay up for him. I would love to see Shaqiri or Depay make the move to White Heart Lane this winter, both seem to be on sale for the same sort of amount, but i fully expect us to end up with Jay Rod who no doubt will get injured again and end up sidelined until the end of the season.

This would be an outstanding signing and if Levy is willing to grow a pair and pay the money, he would be a massive player at Spurs. Like Ghost said, a lot of CL teams such as Liverpool and Arsenal (who also have apparent interest) would be put off with him being cup-tied, and I reckon Arse will be after a striker instead. I think Man Utd will be after Reus or Depay instead, and Chelsea have enough wingers already (and if he wants to leave because of lack of game time, Chelsea would be a bad move) I reckon we have a shot, he will be a massive star player and will be a guarenteed starter week in week out...

Saying this, we'll end up forking £15m+ for J-Rod, who is a massive concern for me, due to injuries...

Being cup-tied won't put any other CL team off buying him.
Chelsea would move for him just to ensure no-one else gets him, then let him be a bench-warmer at best for a few months.
Liverpool probably won't be in the CL by then anyway.

I'm not 100% convinced of him, but he would likely offer more than many of the wide players we have. Bayern are also typically very fair with selling their players, normally doing so around market value. We could do worse.

He is talented but is doesn't give width. Will want to cut in and take people on just like the majority of our players. He is creative and has a rocket of a left foot, but I am wondering if he is similar to what we already have.

Granted making runs behind defenses should be a skill all players have, but thinking we need a player that keeps more width.

Seriously mate? He pisses on anything we have, in any position. I'd play him as no10, and I'm convinced he'd be fantistic signing, give the fans and more importantly the players a huge lift.

Are you sure? I don't think Bayern fans rate him that highly (granted they have Robben, Ribery, Muller, Gotze, etc in his positions).

Yeah I'm sure, I think he'd have a similar impact to VDV when he joined, he's on another level to anything we have currently. Not trying to make him out to be Messi or anything, just a very, very good footballer. As for the Bayern fans? Well have you ever tried to discuss players with a Man United fan? More often than not you'll here "he's shit", mainly down to being spoiled over the years.

He is of the inverted attacking midfielder mold yes, but he possesses abilities our other players of his ilk do not have, such as the determination, pace, and outstanding quality to not only get the job done, but more importantly for us cause disorganization among defenses, which is really why so many pander for width.

As mad as it sounds I'd prefer Kono because while being inverted he does provide considerable width (and also don't want to get my hopes up for Shaqiri, while Kono is realistic).

If you're hoping for a traditional winger this window, ha fat chance and good luck with that buddy. With Poch it looks like inverted wingers at least for the time being.

I don't believe he is the world beater that some in this thread are making him out to be. He's a great player, and for the price, a great buy. He just isn't going to drastically make us a better team over night by being in the starting 11.

On account of sheer quality, no. But he does provide some elements massively lacking in our attacking game, and those elements just so happen to be the kind we need to open channels back up.

That having been said, I maintain that we could do this for much, much cheaper.

The attribute I like is he has vision, and plays with his head up. Last thing we need is another look down cut inside smash type player like Kono when we have Chadli 'doing ok'.

A brilliant player no one can deny that. But it doesn't matter who we have in midfield, its who is in front of them that is the problem. If Levy is going to consider spending big, I would want it to be on a striker.
