Are you serious? Did Levy ever give a freebie?
My guess is he will end up at Arsenal IF Alex Song moves to Barca.http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11677/7992613/Makoun-close-to-Rennes-move
Makoun a defensive mid... replacement for m'vila, i'd bet. but still doesn't answer to whom YM'Vila goes.
Lets buy M'Vila and get a loan deal for Sahin when we sell them Modric (since they won't sell Sahin). Problem solved.
Looks a decent all round midfielder. Can tackle & pass, looks solid and mobile and a bit of vision with his passing. 22yrs old and already 22 French caps. Best years ahead of him. Probably worth a punt at around 15m Euro.
You see again how Arsenal make money on players. Robin van Persie did not cost much, and also Song is monitored by big clubs. He was also a bargain at the time.Reckon he will go to the scum if Song leaves for Barca.
Tottenham are believed to be in talks with French side Rennes over the proposed transfer of defensive midfielder Yann M'Vila.
The French midfielder has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and it seems he could yet be playing in England this season.
Italian website calciomercato.com has spoken to Rennes sporting director Pierre Dreossi who confirmed that he was in talks with Tottenham over the possible transfer of M'Vila.
"Yes, we are dealing with Tottenham," said Dreossi. "The offer is still a bit low but we are confident."
These reports contradict what Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has said about the possibility of a transfer, with the Portuguese manager suggesting that he was no longer on the clubs radar.
"He is an interesting player, but I don't think he will join Tottenham. He is a rather defensive player," Villas-Boas was quoted as saying on ESPN.
"We are looking for a more creative player. I won't lie. There was an interest from us in that player, but now we are looking at different options."
The report in the Italian publication believes that Rennes would be prepared to let M'Vila leave for €20million, while Spurs have only made an offer of €15m.
M'Vila, 22, is considered one of the best young prospects in Ligue 1 having played for France at every youth level and now being a regular in the senior squad having played some 22 games for his country.
It is difficult to determine which representative from wither club is telling the truth on the possible transfer, however, Tottenham would certainly have funds available if Luka Modric completed his move to Real Madrid.
The priority of the north London club is clearly to bring in a new striker as Villas-Boas has just one senior forward in Jermain Defoe.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is likely to play a key role in any of the transfer dealings and will most likely help decide how funds will be used before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Dembele is the answer, not M'Villa
http://www.sport360.com/article/rac...enal-and-tottenham-target-mvila-reject-zenit?Arsenal and Tottenham will battle to sign Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila after he decided he will not move to Zenit Saint Petersburg following threats made by a racist element of the Russian club’s fans.
Racism has long plagued football in Russia and players such as Roberto Carlos and Samuel Eto’o have routinely been the subject of racist abuse since moving to Anzhi Makhachkala. Former Zenit boss Dick Advocaat admitted he could not sign a black player when he was at the club.
"I would be happy to sign anyone, but the fans don't like black players," he revealed. "Quite honestly, I do not understand how they could pay so much attention to skin colour."
No player of African descent has played for Zenit while the motto of a supporters group is: "There’s no black in the colours of Zenit."
Zenit were one of three clubs chasing M’Vila and had placed a bid for the 22-year-old. However reports in Russia say that the Frenchman has turned down a move to the club after he received death threats from fans of the Russian champions.
The news that M’Vila has rejected Zenit will please Tottenham and Arsenal who are also in the running to secure his signature. The midfielder looks likely to leave Rennes before the end of the transfer window and both are keen to add M’Vila to their squad.
Both Spurs and Arsenal have lost midfielders in the past week with Tom Huddlestone moving on loan to Stoke and Alex Song completing a £15million transfer to Barcelona.
Rennes confirmed that three clubs were after M’Vila but with Zenit out of the running, Arsenal and Tottenham will compete with each other to buy M’Vila before the end of the month.
"For the moment, there are three offers," general manager Pierre Dreossi told French radio station RMC. "There is no agreement. We enter negotiations this week and hope to find a solution."
You see again how Arsenal make money on players. Robin van Persie did not cost much, and also Song is monitored by big clubs. He was also a bargain at the time.
We need to learn something from them, but this year, I don't think they have signed many exciting players until now....
Actually they have started a new era by paying overprice as well.... Good to see...
