Provided Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool or Arse make up the FA Cup final, which they often do, then 7th will do us...

I think Everton and Villa are beyond us, but I can definately see us catching/overtaking Spam and Blackburn, and if we beat Pompey and City (which we've already done this season, City twice) that'll be a big help to getting 7th... If Pompey keep getting awarded obviously offside goals, that won't help...

according to this we will come 10th Man u win the title, Liverpool scrape it to champions league place and Bolton, Birmingham and Derby go down!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/predictor/default.stm

I just did that and I've got us coming 8th, United winning the title by a point, Liverpool easily coming 4th and Derby, Fulham and Wigan to go down.

Having said that I don't think Wigan will go down at all so not sure how I managed that. Also I appear to have only predicted Newcastle 12 points from their remainiing 12 games so I'm not sure I've got it right at all.

Yeah I looked through and could actually have taken more points off them.

Weirdly my predicted table has Newcastle 13th on 40 points and then Blackburn 12th on 53. That would be a fairly large gap wouldn't it? I think I need to work on my punditry.

I did the predictor (it takes a fair old while doesn't it ?) and had us 5th on 66 points, withh everton dropping to 8th place, so I may have been a bit biased. One thing is that the teams above us have to play each other a lot, or it seems that way at any rate.

This season we had 4 teams in the UEFA

Spurs, Bolton, Everton and Blackburn.

The 1st 3 qualified by their league placings and Blackburn via the Intertoto.

There will be a fair few teams like Pompey, City & Villa hoping that we get beat by the Chavs in the CC final.

To be honest I think the UEFA Cup is not a great competition. Admitting CL drop outs half way through severely devalues the competition. Admitting teams through Inertoto and Fair Play likewise. If we don't make it we can maybe focus on a top 4 place next season. I don't believe we will get a mass exodus of players if we miss Europe for 1 season.

If we finish higher than 10th it will be an enormous achievement after our start to the season.

It is possible, Class1987, but i put into the comp all winning teams to win 2-1 and draws to be 2-2 for the purpose of finishing the table quickly! If we do finish higher i shall be surprised, very surprised indeed! I would also be happy, very happy indeed!

Why is everyone being so pessimistic? We could still, very realistically, win the league.

EDIT: The -1 GD is actually +1001, but the BBC predictor couldn't handle our brilliance.
