He's not, if i had to pick a spurs player to go out for a cheeky pint with he'd be very much near the bottom of the list. He comes off like a bit of cock to be honest, silly wanna be gansta from Leeds. Still... Who the fuck cares this is football and not WWE. He's our best right winger. I was hoping like everybody else that Lamela or Townsend or Chadli would be get better than him. But nobody has got close. Because at the end of the day for a team in our position with our funds Lennon was actually pretty all right, we could do better we could do worse... In fact we're doing worse now. We weakened our team by not playing him and then moving him on because he didn't fit in with the "philosophy" so now we're forced to persist with poorer players. Cool!

Chadli has shown lennon what end product looks like. Even Townsend has contributed more than lennon has probably ever...

Tell me you're joking, please...
Not in over all play but townsend has equalled lennons best ever scoring season in 10 games less than lennon ever did at spurs. Lennon is lacking massively in end product. At least townsend can shoot and cross occasionally.

Regardless of how well Lennon has done at Everton he still can't:

Shoot
Cross
or be productive when he cuts inside

Whereas Mirallas can:

Shoot and finish
Cross
Out pace and out muscle the opposition

No brainer to part ex Lennon plus cash for Mirallas.

Lennon playing well at Everton just shows that our players aren't crap.

Most teams in the bottom 12 of the Prem would love to have many of our squad players.

Put Lennon in a team that plays to his strengths and you've got a good Prem player. Doesn't mean we should have kept him and I hope we command a good fee for him at the end of the season.

We need to start buying players that complement and fit into what we already have.

He's getting shut down by Kieran Richardson right now so there's that.

His obvious downsides being that he was only good enough to start about 20% of the games we played, had the mobility of a small mediterranean island, made Mido look quick and delivered an incisive pass about once every 6 years.

I bet Hull fans have been really entertained this year with all his strengths and wotnot.

Mido was quick - He could do a kebab in seconds

Seemed like a pretty odd time to make a positive post / bump this thread.

Maybe because my posts aren't completely reactionary.

Richardson doing a good job on Lennon today doesn't negate all the good peroformances Lennon has put in for Everton.

He's a good player who I want sold. I'm hardly bigging him up to the sky. And I bumped the thread about 5 places.

Gotchya. Wouldn't have read into it at all had it been posted at 3 am, just noticed it because it was posted right during HT which made it seem like you were praising him after another good performance (when Everton didn't even turn up 1h). I agree for the most part he's done much better there but think there are many better wingers out there.

......on Fifa.
Actually Townsend has scored as many this year as lennon has in any season. I was a big lennon fan and still have my lennon 25 shirt and the lennon give pace a chance tshirt. Fact is he never progressed and so many other players are better than him now...

Townsend takes penalties, Lennon doesn't. That skews things heavily in Townsend's favour.

That's odd, because my Everton friend is a big fan of Lennon and would gladly swap Mirallas for him, no cash involved.

He's played well for Everton in very open games where they have had loads of space on the break, we've all seen that Lennon.
He's been anonymous for Everton in tight games where the opposition has sat in and soaked up possession, we've all seen that Lennon.

He's given us some good memories and I'll always be grateful for that but he's has never been a good footballer, his striking (and use ) of a football is not good enough. Speed and control are his only real attributes of note.
In a high tempo possession based game he should be nowhere near the team, then again I'm not sure how many of our current players should be.

I'm glad that Lennon is doing well for Everton, sometimes a change is as good as a rest and it's probably high time Lennon had one. Still if he does go I hope that the deal isn't done until his 10th year clocks around in June, would be a bit of a shame of he didn't get a testimonial after being at the club for so long.

I've heard this argument many times when levelled against Lennon but nobody has ever listed a player, "or many other players" who are better than him now. Can you two name any that we can realistically afford and attract to our Club right now?

We spent 15m on Bentley and Aaron was so much better than him he retired.

We have then spent 30m on a player who isn't even as good as Lennon.

I am not saying Lennon is a world beater, but I don't see us having nor attracting a player who's any better. That's just my opinion of course.

You say its a no-brainer, but Lennon is currently in the team and Mirallas isn't...

I am not saying you are wrong btw, but if you read the Everton forums and their general comments when discussing the two, most Everton fans would take this swap too.

But then maybe that is a sign it is a good deal for both clubs.

I am not entirely convinced on Mirallas though to be honest, he seems like a poor version of Chadli and we don't need any more fair-weather players imo.

Konoplyanka, Yarmolenko, Bolasie, Ayew, Salah...shall I go on?

I agree with you on Mirallas. Neither he nor Chadli are top 4 level wingers.
