You know he's not listening, right?

He's a very astute business man, not sure he's ever gonna change his modus.

His astuteness in the end proved he's not that astute alwasy - as he'd gotten back his investment 2-3 times if he'd invested in a striker that would have earned Spurs just 2 more points. His astute saving turned into a great loss.

We've been in need of strikers since we sold Berba. Not gonna throw all the blame at Levy's door though as there were certainly games that the players/manager threw away, vital points lost against teams that have struggled or been relegated.

We certainly need to strengthen in the summer. All well and good having a 60k seater but you wanna see CL at a stadium of that calibre!

what striker, for how much, and how much of a wage would they have take?

It is easy to say we needed a striker but harder to get one in for the right price, wage and wanted to come to us.

Got to be realistic we simply don't have the money to splash that extra cash - we somehow have to get financing for the stadium and deal with huge wage inflation - if bale signs a new deal then wages wise for us it will be a big big financial comittment equivalent to an extra marque signing - so many chairman have the luxury of being in charge of a club that is not self financed - we are not in that position

We finished 6 points behind man city - considering their spending that is an amazing achievement

Levy to me is squeezing everything he can out of the budget the club can provide

He's risk averse. Lower risk = lower reward, but lower loss on the upside.

He is an excellent business man, but he's just that - a business man. He can't see that buying Mouts and a top striker would not have been much of a risk at all in the circumstances. Can't see the finer aspects of what true quality brings to us overall.

It really irritates me thinking about this.

I'm out.

First of all, I do regard Levy as a quality chair man - but you simply don't start the season with only ONE proven striker (namely Defoe). In such a situation you simply pay a bit over the odds - and there were striker available that could have been brought in without being held to a ransom.

Levy has definetley let us down. We need a team for 38 games not 36. We also wasted an opportunity in Jan to get us over the line. When the margins are as small as 1 point, we cant afford to do that.
Two years on the Trot,, same story

Why don't you look at it like a positive we didn't get 4th.
This way its clear we need strengthening so Levy now has to act this summer
if he doesn't then the finger can be pointed at him.
I get the feeling if we came 4th the purse strings wouldn't of loosened.

Completely disagree. I can't believe he wouldn't have done more than Jermain 'one goal in 6 months' Defoe and Emmanuel '5 goals all season on £100k p/week' Adebayor?

Levy has let us down...no team that has ambition for Top 4 should spend an entire season with just 2 recognised strikers.

No because we do have the money.

dont know how you "know", but still.

we may have the money but that money 'may' for example, be used for Bale's new wages?

basically its more do we have 'spare' transfer money - just a thought!

It not so much the lack of signings that cost us, it was the lack of required quality in our signings that have cost us dear.. Siguardsson, Dempsey and Holtby wouldn't get a sniff at Utd, City, Arenal or Chelea, but they are regulars here.

Because it says so on our balance sheet and cash flow statements.

Yes, an amazingly bad achievement from Man City, along with losing the FA Cup Final and 2 seasons of pathetic displays in CL.
