While I accept totally that we can't compete financially with those clubs above us and while I'm sure that every chairman in the country would have loved to have signed Benteke and Michu for a combined ten million, if we can't compete with the big-spenders why aren't we moving heaven and earth to discover some more talent on the margins of the game? It won't bother me if, at the end of next season, we're talking about a twenty goal season from a guy we paid two million for. If fact, I'd be far happier than if it was an established star.

Levy took a gamble in appointing AVB, a gamble I was very pleased with when we appointed him. I am sure Levy wants AVB to be the man in charge for the forseeable future. However he had to see how AVB would do in his first season with a decent squad, to see if ti would be worth the risk to invest further. I fully believe that we will invest in the right players this season and fully believe we will have a great chance with an improved squad (both through purchases and the return of kaboul and sandro) to get top 3-4.

We are building a club from the right foundations. If we had splurged £Xmillions in the summer or Janurary and AVB turned out to be flop (never thought he would) we would have been crucifying both AVB and Levy for spending so much money and not achieving. Sadly football is a business.... a business where risks need to calculated

Stop looking for a fucking scape goat. We got a record points tally this season, and are clearly building something. Last summer Levy brought in Vertonghen, Lloris, Dembele, Sigurdsson, Adebayor and Dempsey, in January he stumped up the cash to bring Holtby early and worked hard to get us Leandro. Be thankful that our club is on a great financial footing, improving every season, has a young squad with lots of potential, has a young and ambitious coaching team and that we are witnessing a player take the step from very good to one of the World's best in front of our own eyes.

When are people gonna get it???!?! We dont pull in that sort of money, 35000 seats is not enough without a sugar daddy. If you want instant glory go support chelsea or man city. We cant spend mega £££££££ on players

we have a "sugar daddy" .. but in typical spurs fashion we get the only one who doesn't want to spend any money.

It's the stadium, we have to balance transfers and stadium..And one way or the other we screw one of them up. It's a harsh truth but a truth nonetheless.

If I recall didn't levy say years ago that the stadium would have no impact on signings for the future.

I feel we have dropped a bollock by failing to strengthen in the last two jan windows. I also think if we'd kept Vdv we would be in the CL( I know he had family issues but I still don't think we had to sell him).

As others have said, levy is a great businessman but he's too risk averse. Every successful business has to take risks in order to grow, otherwise they will just tread water. Of course, it has to be managed, which is why large companies have entire departments dedicated to risk analysis but without it we will never go further.

We will never have a greater opportunity to have established ourselves as CL team as we have in the last few years and I fear it won't come round again.

I am not going to have time to explain but cash or assets on a b/s are normally not unalicated

But if you look at our balance sheet in 2011, and it says we have £20 million in cash or cash equivalents, and our cash flow is positive in the following years (in the tens of millions), then it is reasonable to assume that we have money in the bank. Even if the cash on a balance sheet is allocated somewhere, wouldn't that show up on subsequent cash flow statements?

I may be wrong but my impression is that we have quite a lot of money in the bank.

Stoof, were YOU the culprit of the dirty protest in the Brighton away dressing room? You can tell us, we're all friends here...;)

Joe Lewis is not in the same league as chelsea, man city chairman money wise.

$4.2bn according to forbes, abramovich $10.2bn. so yes, not as rich but i'm sure he could've invested £20m into the club for moutinho or a striker and at the end of the day the money would've been recouped with cl qualification ... but no ... he'd rather spend it on his yachts.

But if we continue our yearly cycle of failure then one of the world's best will be in front of someone else's eye's won't they.

I agree we should of got someone in in January but i don't think many of us expected Ade to have such a flat season. We'll get there eventually once the stadium is built. Did anyone else notice what looked like Levy wiping his eyes after the final whistle today? He obviously cares about the club and maybe see's it more than just a job. That or he could see the CL £'s disppearing before his eyes :D

Listen levy has flopped big time this season especially in january for not bringing in a striker we desperately needed.

BUT

I am greatful that he has under him a very very passionate manager in AVB. And also bringing in Lloris,Vert and Dembele was amazing.

Next season is going to be a very exciting season.

Bale will stay and we will bring in quality.

must have missed that top honours challenge!
So what was the season about then, if not challenging for the top? We may not have reached the top but we did have a go in my opinion. There can only be one winner, but believe it or not, we did stand up and were counted in parts during the season, with our club being classed along with the best in the EPL.

Im sure that the offical amount abramovich is worth but maybe he is not declaring all his wealth??????
Maybe he is losing alot of that 'extra wealth' in chelsea for tax reasons and the fact that he nicked it in the first place?????
