SC: THIS IS GETTING PATHETIC. PULL YOUR FUCKING FINGER OUT LEVY. FROM DYBALA TO BAS DOST. WHAT IS THIS FUCKING CLUB DOING?!?!?

People need to chill the fuck out.

I think Bas Dost is a bit under rated, he is one dimensional, but that dimension will piss all over the fodder teams we will be playing in early rounds of cups.

He also offers what Llorente did but with more mobility. It will make the likes of Lucas and Son a lot more dangerous as they will have more to feed off of.

£5.5m is no brainer, get him in and use whatever money is left to plug the creativity gap when GLC is unavailable - even if we can only afford Will Hughes.

Not convinced he‘d offer any more mobility than Llorente’s did. At all. Can only imagine Dier and Toby launching long balls at his dome.

Bas = best
Dost = friend (in hindi i believe)

Bas Dost = best friend

I'm starting to like the idea of this happening*

If there is any truth in this rumour then our dear leader is totally taking the piss out of us.
Absolute joke links. Mid table mediocrity here we come

And based on some posts, that is where the fanbase deserves to be.

Now I've calmed down a bit, for £5m I don't object to this guy coming in as one of our striker options. But, only if we bring in someone else too.

As ever, the theme was "Liverpool sell key player in decline for unthinkable sum and manage to find better player for half price :cautious: ". Although they did pay 1.5 times more for Andy Carroll than they did Suarez!

My view of that window was that Redknapp wasn't expecting to be around very long (court and England job both going on in short succession) and he wasn't planning on any future with us. His "they've never had it so good" stuff around the time suggests to me that he was happy for the club to have regressed the moment he left us, so I wouldn't have expected him to bring in any young potential at that point.
Funny though, in comparison to now, that Redknapp was happy to get rid of Pav and bring in Saha, but I think we had maybe 3 other strikers and VDV on the books then too. His squad was so much fatter that anything we've had since and it still wasn't enough, apparently!

On topic, I would be quite happy with Dost on the basis that he looks like someone Mourinho could get a tune out of. Not much of a risk. Looks like could easily work with Kane too, being a box predator and Kane liking to drop back.

I'm at the point where I would just take anyone to get another body in there. We've missed out or don't want to bid for proven PL quality and so now are being linked with all and sundry across Europe. If we were close to getting one then as we saw with Hojbjerg and Doherty things move quickly. That hasn't happened so I'd say we are well off getting one in.

I would probably take the 'links to everyone' as a positive tbh. I'd be more worried if we weren't linked to anyone.

Sounds like we might be making sure that, if all else fails, we'll get one in - but the fact weren't not mega-linked to any of these fools by the closest/most reliable journos suggests that we're probably after a deal that the media don't know about yet.

Strikers are more of a hot-property item, so I can see why we'd be less visible than with Hojbjerg or Doherty. Even with Doherty, it took a while from Goat to Stoof in the general scheme of things

We were initially linked with Doherty last summer and then again in January, so he'd been on the club's radar for a while. As for a striker, I hope you are right but we need it done quickly don't we.

Don’t we just get a token link to this guy every window? Pretty sure we’ve been linked numerous times over the last few years - only thing that’s changed is the price... worryingly quite dramatically ?

TBF he's actually pretty clinical around the 6 yard box and remains one of the best headers of the ball in Europe.

Issue is that he's shit with the ball, requires his chances to be created for him, and lacks the pace or athleticism to be particularly effective on the counter. If he's our man then it doesn't exactly inspire confidence that our style of football will be becoming any more aesthetic anytime soon.

Yeap, he makes Crouch look like Messi with the ball

Levy did say in that Mourinho ( sorry Tottenham ) documentary than Jose likes a particular type of forward

Yep this makes me terrified its just a beanpole we can hit long balls to like he used Zlatan for at Man.U, honestly if we sign this guy and no-one else its going to be a seriously long and painful season ahead.
