Must be because he's Chelsea. To be fair Woodgate has not been himself this season.

True. Bit of a sorry state if thats the best we can find in the country.

However he might really be something special. I must admit i know nothing about him.

Manchienne is a good player but is too small to make it as a top centre half in the premiership.

Plus he looks like a girl.

The less spurs players in the squad the better, Save them for Sunday.

congrats Darren - but yep pleased we have only one in the squad - lge points not friendly caps are the priority

yes playing for England can give players a boost - it can also do them damage, mentally/physically or both

Congrats Benty, well deserved.

Shame Bentley and Huddlestone were looked over. They both deserve to be included. Jenas and Lennon I think do deserve to be squad players too.

The main benefit of only having one player in the full England squad is that it gives Harry a week to work with a few extra players.

On a side note, does anybody actually know what the point of this international freindly is, it seems just like a collossal waste of time and energy, how are most teams supposed to get any sort of consistancy going when the players bugger off for the best part of a week to play a meaninginless freindly!

I cant agree that he wont be a top centre half. From what i have seen (and i admit its not loads, but most of his U21 games) he looks a v good player wiht the potential to be a quality CB.

I will agree with the bit about him looking like a girl though!!!

Congrats Darren Bent :clap::clap::clap:

your silly if you think mancienne won't make it as a top centre back. he's got a hell of alot more to his game than woodgate

If that is the case why is he being loaned out to a championship team and not a premiership team? I'm sure there are a lot of teams who could do with a better central defender than woodgate.

Mancienne's selection has to be entirely based on what the England coaches have seen in U21 etc training. The lad hasn't played a single minute of Premier League football ever. And he's only just moved to Wolves on loan, where he's played 4 games (1 as a sub).

Mancienne has probably been picked as the back-up RB and to get some senior squad experience. However, if he gets on the field as a CB, ahead of a fit and highly experienced player like Woodgate, it's a joke.

That said, I'm delighted the likes of Woodgate & King are not involved in this mickey mouse friendly tosh.

Good on Bentos, but this is a meaningless Mickey Mouse friendly that gets in the way of football that actually matters—which is why Mancienne got the nod, I assume.

Bit on an odd one Manchienne getting in ahead of our own Woody but he has been quite impressive for QPR and Wolves plus probably the U21's so guess he deserves a run-out.

Wouldn't think only being 5'10 should stop him becoming a top prem centre back either, I'd just make sure there was a 6 foot pluser next to him!

Touré's only 5' 10", and Gunter (backed for CB by a lot of SC members) is 5' 11".
