I’ve said for a while I think we’re desperate for a proper sports psychology program at Tottenham. There’s very clear, glaring deficiencies in terms of confidence, attitude and focus and has been for a long, long time.

I don't disagree but don't see how this was a mental issue. We lacked a cutting edge and Romero let Mee beat him to a header. That was the game. Up until that moment we looked odds on to win. We didn't stop trying but Burnley gained huge confidence. It's football.

I totally get this point of view and tend to agree.
however- there isn’t a finite period of time where Kane sits back and sacrifices his career for “the big rebuild”

Just to be clear: lose Kane (and son fwiw) and this club is mid table at best

So this summer will force us into acting in a way that we have never acted before: spend both big and smart.
there is no room for failure.
it feels like every transfer has to pay off, because we are so painfully inconsistent, and our squad is so fragile.
I’m looking forwards to it but in the interim I’d like to see us be a flat rack bully at least.
Well the good thing is there's no way the club let Kane go whilst Conte is here cause that will ensure his resignation.

he might not be the problem, but keep playing the same formation against every team we should "control" he sure deserves some criticism for not changing it up
Yeah I think this is part of it for me. He has a preferred formation but we get bullied in midfield. I wish he would play 3 in the middle and just have 2 up front. Could easily move Kulu more central and perhaps slightly more advanced than the 2 midfielders where he could operate behind Kane and Son.

Just want this season over now TBH, we will have another good result and think we are in with chance and then screw it up again.

We just have too many poor footballers. We had a lot of that game and I think we probably just edged it but also played completely into their hands.

I said it in the Conte thread, Sess-Winks-PEH-Royal are never ever going to create anything.

I know I’ve loaned about him a bit recently, but watching Winks hide behind players or make a pass to someone next to him to shirk responsibility is really starting to anger me.

We go 1-0 up there and it’s a different story, nowhere near as bad as the other 2 losses, that was a 50/50 game and we were naive in letting them have a few chances at the only way they would score tonight

Very frustrating, but hardly surprising. I just want to stop thinking we have half a chance of 4th, we don’t… but I expect us to beat Leeds on Saturday and they will suck me back in again

Leeds have just lost 6 nil. I’m not panicking but if we can’t beat them on Sunday then even I’m going to start to get nervous about how things will pan out. Even a draw tonight would have been acceptable.
Unless Bielsa is sacked between now and then, or has some kind of Damascene conversion into a low block manager, I’m very confident we will put a few past them.

I thought our wide players tonight were absolute dogsh!t , Sess , Emerson , kuluveski , Everytime we got to the edge of their box we went backwards , not one of them tried to take their full back on , and the odd time we did put in a cross there was nobody in the box , utterly bizzare performance coming off the back of city game . It’s no wonder we struggle against teams that sit back cos nobody has the balls to take anyone on . Hojberg , winks , Sess and Emerson are big problems for us if we are looking to open up teams .

Not just this game. Tottenham as a club has a massive problem with mentality.

There must have been four or five chances tonight. That if any of our players had a brain. They would have waited and then played. But just aimlessly put across the box. The one at the end where none even attempted to get into the box and attack the ball was particularly annoying.

We always knew we had very fragile wing backs.
However, the arrival of Kulusevski and Bentacour has only accentuated the gulf in class.
They look poorer than ever.

I thought Conte could spray some magic perfume on our turds and take us to CL football this season.

But more he seem to try, the stench from our turd is overpowering his magic spray... :banghead:

Don’t usually post ‘negative’ responses. But I think sess is decent
Disagree, he might get there at some point but atm I just don't see anything suggesting he should be starting games for us. His first touch is often quite bad and seems to second guess every decision and therefore losing pace and momentum.

Really? We had some great positions missed a number of chances, hit the bar and I thought we had a stone wall penalty not given (surprise). They had a set piece and one great chance. If any team deserved it we probably shaded that statement
improved second half but couldn't have been much worse... first half we struggled and looked the inferior team. Afterwards in terms of dominating possession it was better but created very little and only 2 attempts on target which neither were clear cut for davies and bergwijn. Overall we never looked like scoring really and they looked the better team with the ball (although nearly every other team does). Same issues nearly every week - struggle with the basics - defending crosses, pressing / controlling the game and creating. 4 defeats out of 5 says it all and not confident going to leeds away despite them shipping goals for fun lately.... feels like it might be Dr Tottenham time

I really hope so but it’s not easy to dismiss the other option here.

anyway, I’m frustrated that we appear to be treading water.
ive got patience because as a spurs fan what else have you got?
but I’ve also got a heightened expectation that we should be able to pick up points against Southampton, wolves and Burnley and we don’t.

Tbh beating city and losing away to Burnley is a feeling that id like to reserve for place fans but here we are
