Two days to go to the close of Jan transfer window. Its possible, we may not have any new back up striker. Just looking within the squad, Chadli IMO looks to be obvious backup. This is Chadli's 3rd season at Spurs. He may not be everyone's preferred starting XI player but end of the day, he does the job.

Goals Scored/Assisted per minutes played (all competitions) :

2013/14 (5 goals/6 assists / 1921 mins) - 174 mins
2014/15 (13 goals/5 assists / 2947 mins) - 163 mins
2015/16 (5 goals/5 assists / 1082 mins) - 108 mins

This stat of Chadli's is only behind Kane who had scored/assisted per 99min last season. Son this season has 118 mins.

Chadli can hold the ball & score on both foots & headers as well. He may not affect the game as Kane does but he has knack of scoring when least expected. Also, he is a player on the up. He was one of "the 7" who gets constantly ridiculed but to be honest, for 7m he has been a steal in hindsight. Pochettino has improved his game & this season after a injury spell, he looks fresh & threatening to score most times.

Other back up candidate - Son. While he is good, I guess he is still light weight for the upfront role. I would rather have him play RW than striker to get the best out of him.

He has great goals per min ratio, but this is because he plays in his best position which benefits his physical and technical attributes. You can't just stick him up as a lone striker and expect him to reproduce those stats or even better them.

I think he can - I just wish he'd use his physicality a bit more at times because he's a big strong boy.

In front of Goal, I'm not sure there's anyone I'd have more confidence in finishing a chance after Kane, than Nacer Chadli. (maybe Son)

If Kane isnt injured & we want to change the game - Chadli is a good option to play second striker. Infact his sub at Palace changed the game. Lets face it. There is no other player like Kane. Thats the whole point of thread. We will miss Kane (if injured) but can Chadli or Son step up ?

Yes, both are good back ups for Kane. As you say (and I've said repeatedly) if we lost Kane we are never going to have Kane Mk2 as back up anyway. These two offer a good range of skills as back up options.

of course if we lose Kane and Alli this window to Manure, as the press would have it :D...Nacer might be it ;)

I think people were saying this after the January window closed, Chadli and Son can fill a gap. If I remember correctly, we still had a lot of people laughing (or still crying over no out and out striker signing) at this idea.

Part of Chadli's success I feel is down to the defenders focusing so much time and effort on Harry. This leaves space for Chadli to operate in and score. Not sure he will be as effective on his own.

Either way whether we like it or not it would appear that Chadli, Son and (when back) N'jie will be the cover.

No

Totally anonymous up top on his own. Doesn't work hard enough. Not good enough in the air and cannot hold the ball up. He's done it on a few occassions for brief periods in games for us and has been shocking

Like Mido on a very very poor day. Nowhere near good enough for what we need as back up to HK if we want to win games without H

i think he can play there and will do average but its really more like playing 1 more forward than fielding a striker

most of the time he requires abit more time with the ball on foot before he can hit a ball accurately, so he's more like of a forward with good technical ability than a striker. a striker would be someone that has the instinct/ability to react towards a ball within a very short amount of time, eg defoe, kane, berbatov, its really an instinct that you cant really teach.

i think chadli is gonna be an average back up, just like how son would be an average back up as well, because they are both technically quite good. might get a odd goal or so, but will never be able to impose the impact a real striker has within the box.

Hes fine to come on up top or even start against weaker opposition but if kane got injured i wouldnt want chadli up top against man city

In short, hes ok up top in small doses, but not as a long term back up imo

Horrendously underrated player.

So glad we have him coming back into the fold for the second half of the season. If he can continue to perform as he has we're more than well stocked to compete on three fronts.

if H got injured and Chadli was upfront for us until the end of the season would we finish top 4 or maybe win a trophy?

Look at United - top scorers - Rooney 6 goals & Martial - 5 goals. Alli a midfielder already has scored 6; Far better goals.
Even without a Kane, our attack looks good on paper than them.
In a normal season when likes of United, Chelsea, Liverpool are playing well, we may not make it to top4 just with Chadli alone. But this season, Chelsea are already out of reckoning. United & Liverpool are struggling , we could actually get away with it.

I don't know, would we with Berahino? I don't know. Would we with Dembele? I don't know.

It's not a given that Kane will get injured.
