Even with a new striker we need another player of this quality as well

Well we seems to be in advance talks with Chadli. If we invest big in a striker, I believe there won't be money left for a brazilian talent who is wanted by big clubs. We have to be realistic. It would surprise me if we should get him.

As long as he doesn't go to Pool or Ars, that would be absolutly awful. Still hoping this happens.
If we got him now he'd have a year to settle in before Bale leaves and he steps up to br the main man rather than us needs bale's replacement to hit the ground running

I'm hoping at the final whistle Bernard will sprint the full length of the pitch and jump into the arms of Baldini shouting "Papa, Papa"

I've be duly corrected; this isn't the cup match but regardless Bernard is still playing v. well.

Yeah, it's a pretty interesting, fast-paced match, indeed.
Bernard is definitely a talented kid. I also love his tenacity & aggressive approach to the game. (y)

With two minutes left in injury time, Corinthians got dispossessed in their final third, and Bernard exploded up the left flank with tremendous dribbling speed in transition, and started drifting to the right. As the Corinthians right-back barely caught up to block him outside the box, Bernard made a beautiful ankle-busting left-to-right cutting maneuver to go around and penetrate the box, and he would've succeeded, if that fullback hadn't smacked Bernard in the face in a desperate move to stop the play. I'm surprised the ref only awarded an FK to Bernard. Oh well. I guess my point is that little Brazilian is highly dangerous as a counter-attack threat.

At the moment the more good performances he puts in the better. I think we are obviously interested and have been for some time, I think we can offer him exactly what he needs to further his carrier so honestly believe he would choose us over Porto, Pool or Arss. But I feel that Levy is not sure about spending big on him so the more top notch performances from him the more likely we will pay the required fee to get him. If levy like him I think we will get him..... Hopefully.

You have to think Big Phil will be looking at plenty of Spurs games with both Sandro and Paulinho lining up so if he wants to catch his eye and ensure he is constantly in his mind there's not many better places abroad he could be next season

I don't think we have a chance on this guy. He will be too expensive. We need this money for a good striker. I think he is nailed on for Porto. We will see.

Its funny but I am still seeing ITK that points at us still hovering around him.

If Bernard is being considered I imagine that the deal will have structured payments with a balloon at the end. For example if AM are asking 20-23 milion euros which is what I think it will end up being, it will be based on 25%-30% upfront and the rest dependant on appearences, goals etc. I dont know how the Brazilians are with a ballon payment structure but that is how a lot of European clubs work. The other way you mitigate cost is by giving the selling club equity in the deal with a sell on fee % but that really depends on potentail and age etc. I think Bernard falls into that category. You have to be a bit careful with sell on fees as that can sometimes be construed as third party ownership which the PL does not allow so you have to structure that aspect very carefully.

He may be interested in us but what about his owners? They may prefer to retain their stake and let him go to porto. After a few years they can then cash in hopefully for even more money.
