It would interrupt his intergration into the squad with his new teammates and him becoming comfortable in his new London surroundings, let him get used to being here and his new life rather than pack him off to a new place

That is a downside - I just think he would benefit so much from continuous playing time.

Couldnt agree more with you on this point.
I would love to see that here at spurs, whether he gets that chance well thats another matter.
Thats why i understand people saying a loan would be beneficial for Lamela.

No chance we will let him go for two reasons.
We were lucky to get him in the first place - the Baldini effect.
AVB is as stubborn as mule so he's hardly going to give up on him this quickly.

this whole topic is ridculous... hes our record signing, 21 years old, new to the country, doesnt speak the language, hasnt even been in this continent for that long, family have just joined him in the country, not other players from his country at the club...
surely its clear to anyone with an above average IQ that AVB, Baldini and co are getting him settled first (a little like we did with Hugo Lloris last year) off the pitch and at the club (the lad didnt even get a pre season out of us)
he will get game time over the next month and from that will determine his imideate future.

put it this way... say we loan out our record signing 4 months after signing him we may as well tell Baldini he is rubbish and kick him out.

He will still be at spurs come the end of the season!!

A move away in January has been talked up in the last few days, and according to reports, Inter Milan have now approached Tottenham to discuss a deal.

The Italian side want Lamela on a six-month loan deal until the end of the season, and believe that the player will help push through the move.

Spurs are believed to be considering the approach, and have yet to respond to Inter’s advances

Swansea maybe!

Back to Italy or off to Spain, pointless, unless we are thinking of getting rid, which would far too soon.

This player is being totally mismanaged.

Sickening.

We shouldn't be loaning this player full stop. He needs time to adjust to London life and gel in with his new team mates.

If we are loaning him out, it needs to be to another premiership club, preferably a club close to London, for it to make any sense. If we loan abroad, it would be a total disgrace and embarrassment.

I can't believe people are even entertaining this discussion on here.

There is not a chance that Lamela will be going anywhere on loan in January. Not a chance.

The journalists on Sunday supplement seemed to imply that AVB didn't want to sign Lamela... I take most things those muppets say with a pinch of salt but it could explain the treatment of Lamela and why he isn't getting more game time.

You lot are taking this too serious

The story highlights the fact Atletico want a AM on loan for the CL that isnt cup tied and Lamela is the best player who fits that category hence the fabrication of that story. The story most likely is lost in translate when it says we are happy for him to go.

Don't get suckered in by that, it's just lazy journalism. Even with this whole DoF structure I highly doubt that we'd sign a player for that much money without the manager saying he's cool to go ahead with it. Lamela isn't in the team as much because he's still adjusting. He's just a kid still and this is a massive step up for him.

He's not going anywhere, not a chance Levy would sell or even loan out his (potentially) most expensive signing just 6 months after buying him. There's more chance of the manager being let go than Lamela.

Well it looks like Lamela was a pawn in power struggle between AVB and Baldini.
Might explain the loan theories.
Im so glad its over and hopefully Lamela can now get the time he needs on the pitch.

In Italy Lamela is constantly cropping up on the sports programmes. The pundits are saying that he made a mistake coming to England as it isn't suiting him. They're claiming he's unhappy and that there are a number of clubs in Italy interested. A return to Roma has been touted, as well as this deal you've linked and a cash + Vucinic deal from Juventus.

Personally, I think it's all media talk and speculation.
