For the future progression of the club we need TOP 4 and start challenging for the league... I have seen us win many cups but I have only seen one title challenge and that was in the mid 80`s I think despite the money of the teams above us with a clever youth and buying policy we can still challenge..
Not recently you haven't we've won about 2 cups in about 18 years. I think if we were to win the league cup that would give our youth especially a big boost. I don't think our future progression depends on us getting top four at all, there are a number of ways we can progress.

I'm just happy we're going in the right direction, hats off to Poch for getting this bunch of players to buy into his style....i hope Levy lets him bring in the players he needs, Top 4 will eventually follow.

I wrote the article - atleast I can say that I always supported Poch. (not Lamela though)...

My gut feel is we will have a very good end to the season - whether its winning a cup or top4
Have you just admitted that you don't support one of our players? I knew you didn't like him but not supporting him...?

Comeon....its not what I meant....
Talk some sense. If i had such dislike for him, I would not mention him in any of my match day starting XI.

Go have a look for yourself.

I simply don't believe he will be a hit. thats all. Its not I wont support him.

That is why I put question marks at the end of the sentences, because it seemed a bizarre thing to say :)

Please let's not get carried away! Arsenal and United are both likely to address their problem areas this month and both have considerably more transfer clout than us.

As soon as the Europa games start coming again, let's see how we're doing after that when the squad is stretched.

Right now I think it's a little too early to be dreaming of 4th. I do feel however that if we are in the same position and keeping pace by the end of Feb, by all means, let's go for it.

Would love a trophy this season, League Cup probably looking like the best shot. And Europa not looking too bad in there, as I think that most of the teams in the competition are beatable over 2 legs.

Would be happy with either 4th place and a cup final, or 5th place with a cup. It especially shows our quality players like Lloris and Eriksen that the club is moving in the right direction, which could convince them to stay.

That's a very pessimistic 43.9%! At the moment there's not a great deal separating us and scum. We're one point ahead and have won one more game.

If some one in RAWK saw this poll, there will be absolute meltdown...

Nearly 100 votes cast, not one selected Liverpool for a top4 finish ;)(y)

Absolutely agree with the OP. I've regained a sense of optimism the last couple of weeks as well.

I still don't hold enormous hope of a CL place but that's not really the point. I envisaged this season as a major transitional year where we'd generally look awful, not be threatened by relegation but not threaten the top four either. Probably 7th/8th. However, a few things have made me more optimistic:

1. Improved team performances.
2. Marked improvement in individual performances.
3. Woeful performances of the perceived rival teams.

And the most important for me....

4. Performances against rivals. Poch is setting us up to gain points against the. United's, Chelsea's, City's, all of them and it's brilliant to see. Sick and tired of glorious failure and scoring two but conceding 4/5. Now, we're pragmatic, dogged and tough.

Top 4 I haven't thought about regardless I much prefer a trophy the league cup is very realistic, Europa would be fantastic regardless of the champions league place but that would be very, very difficult to win.

I agree, I want to win a trophy there is no glory in finishing among the runners up ( top four).

Why do it to yourselves?? Why bother suggesting we'll finish above Arsenal?? These things don't happen, and all that's left are the goons masturbating themselves into oblivion over the predictability of our agonising demise.

Who would have believed United would have missed out last year I think we must do better that the 1st half of the season now Poch is getting his ideas across... we have one of the strongest squads to cover injuries loss of form etc 3rd and 4th are up for grabs lets believe in our team :)

Aiming for the top four is ok, but winning something is what sport is all about so I would ask why you are aiming to finish among the runners up as a priorty.
