Top players want money - look at Qatar and China
I disagree on the financial benefits to the club though, the CL is so important for that

His quote is being taken out of context. When it comes to signing players, the lure of the Champions League in order to sign them is overrated. You can still sign quality players without having Champions League football, as we did with the likes of Modric and Bale. But hey, give the papers their headline.

he didn't say the cl is overrated, he said people overrate the need for cl to keep your best players/sign new ones, he said if you pay the money and show you're ambitious then they'll sign. i thought he came out of the interview quite well and i'm hardly his biggest fan, he was saying clubs don't let players get down to their final year of their contract if they think they're any good so if daniel thinks he's the right man for the job then he'll offer him a new deal, if not then he won't.

SSN have run with the contract bit now 'You don't let good players run into the last year of their contract, it's the same with managers', 'not easy for the players knowing I've got a year on my contract'. really starting to take a dislike to him now

This is the only real bit that pissed me off, mostly because during all the England speculation, Harry constantly stated that the players weren't distracted or affected by all the speculation and uncertainty over his future.
So which is it Harry, are the players distracted and affected with speculation regarding the managers future or not?

Surely given the circumstances a better reply to the question over his contract would be something along the lines of 'daniel's got a lot on his plate at the moment when we get a chance we'll sit down and discuss it' rather than obviously trying to put pressure on?
