RODON. Does what it says on the tin.

This lad has the required skill set to be our best CB in my opinion, of the current crop. A but rough around the edges and no Ruben Diaz, but possesses leadership qualities and is a fierce player. Good in the air, excellent defensive skills. If he can learn some higher end distribution skills like Toby, it will help the team no end. I understand why Mason and Powell are going for a Dier Toby combo, for safety and it's tried and tested. But I think Rodon is a shoe in next season, unless the new boss wants to invest? Be a shame to waste a talent like Joe.

i have an answer for you. Go forth and multiply... with Dav. You may enjoy it. He‘s quick, can be strong and long. Highly effective tackle, depending on how you attack him. Can be almost tantric with the amount of ground he covers and the fitness he shows throughout 90 of rough play. He can get his head to most of your balls. Best of all, is his recovery time. Very impressive physical specimen who can go again with you for another 90mins, and a little bit of extra time too, without tiring. Yes, occasionally he loses focus and comes too quickly at the ball, or accidentally sticks it in the wrong net. But, for what it is worth, he‘s a good listener and will do his best to carry out your desires over 90 mins.

That answer your question?

I presume that's meant to be funny but it isn't, it's just unpleasant.

I deleted. As you are correct it was mean.

But I urge u to read the whole thread.

He was baiting and baiting and baiting.

But yeah, I was being a butt.

This I think is time to just observe and lurk for a while. As I am finding far too many people on SC are just itching for a fight all the time. And I fall into the trap. So, best to say nothing.

How is Toby not a “natural defender”?

Toby is a gifted footballer but I think he struggles against physical players he can be bullied, fantastic footballer that is a defending technician however he’s not a natural defender if you wanted someone to head a brick away in the 91st minute Toby wouldn’t be my man

He must be seriously crap in training if he can’t get in ahead of Dier.

I can definieytly understand why Dier and Toby started the last few games. With Rodon unavailable for that, it was important Mason chose the two who could play prior to that game.

They played well so they were given the reward to play the next game. Fine again, so on to the next game.

It would have been hard for Mason to justify, to the players, dropping Dier at that moment. Unfortunately we all know Dier is only ever a couple of games away from a performance like today.

Rodon should take the mantle now but I expect Mason will try to keep players onside and not drop Dier.

It'll be up to the next coach to get Dier out of the team/squad.

Have to say I thought Rodon was our best defender in Jose's last few games & I thought he'd been left out because he couldn't play in the CF.

Dier has been poor all season making quite a few mistakes that have led to goals & today was no exception. Really poor header that led to the 1st goal, ball watching for the 2nd & I really don't understand how he gets in the team ahead of Rodon.

Can't believe Mason has bombed this guy out for Dier.

Can anyone see any logic in that?

There isn't much logic to his team selections, not to mention his substitutions - those are really something else! The guy is absolutely new to this and it shows week in, week out.

Aphex see above plus quite naturally Mason IMO has gone for experience whilst he himself settles into his new job and makes his own mind up about certain players.

See this makes no sense.

Rodon surely has more experience at CB than Dier?

Dier has played CB for what, 18 months of his pro career at Spurs?

Rodon has been a CB through his teenage years and regularly for Swansea?

Rodon is the more accomplished CB already at his young age.

Mason has just got it completely wrong.

I love Mason but his team selections almost make it seem like Dearest Leader is dictating XI’s as the most hands on chairman to ever live there that poor. Winks & Dier should be nowhere bear the team yet are now integral again. Gio playing yet continuing to provide absolutely nothing. Dele back in and playing like the dele of the last few years that we could very much live without. But Dier & Winks getting time piss me off the most. Just so, so, so, so poor. Give the time to players who might have a future here. If the next manager sees a future for Dier & Winks here then i just fucking quit. They stink out loud.

Come on the logic was simple.

Rodon couldn't play in the final so we got what we've got. Since then the coach has decided that sticking with a pairing is a good idea, and it did okay for a couple of games. It obviously didn't last game but I don't see where he could pick a different defence yet as the team haven't played since.
