Valencia Yid suggesting Foyth deal is permanent.

Would hopefully give us funds towards Skriniar deal.
I could well see him spending his career somewhere like Villareal. Decent club, good football, regulars in Europe, lovely part of the world too, he’d play enough there to develop and probably find his level.

I see him playing a couple seasons their then getting a massive move to psg, or somebody like that.

We have very different perceptions of what his ceiling is. For his sake I hope you’re right, I just don’t see it.
If he could work out a the few defensive errors in his game, and maybe get a bit stronger, he has all the tools to be an amazing modern day cb.
Then again I thought the same of that Romanian lad we used to have, forget his name, who moved to Roma. Used to love that guy.
I even thought Ghaly could be a super decent midfielder.
I'm not the best judge of potential.

You can very easily be right. I'll freely admit I'm a big fan of foyths.

He has less than 50 professional games under his belt and is still very young for a defender. With some seasoning and the right guidance he can become an absolute stud.

He's got pace, the height, great technique and a real bastard of an attitude when it comes to defending. He just needs experience to gain that little composure that hurts him so much.

I like Foyth, but i think far too many now get so obsessed with a great footballing CB. I'd love two proper CBs in my team any day. The type that read the game, sniff out danger, strong, tough, great in the tackle and are okay at passing. Their fundamental job is to stop us conceding and too many of these footballing CBs like Stones and Foyth have that as secondary to there passing and dribbling, it's nuts.

I wish him all the best. But not the type of CB i like in our team. We were blessed with King who had it all, 99% don't.

We were at our best when we had two of the best ball playing cbs in the world with vertonghen and alderwierld. I get it defending comes first, but the reason davinson Sanchez isn't one of the top center halfs in the division is because he is such a liability on the ball.

There is a balance to be had but it is still crucial to have ball players everywhere on the pitch.

Spot on, I want ugly centre backs that head it clear and block shots. Beckanbauer was an exceptional footballer and since then too many have tried to copy his style and failed. I’ll have Terry Butcher thanks, it seems Jose agrees with me

I loved Ghaly. Had a season ticket for a long time which encompassed his spell with us. Always thought he was decent and a real trier - remember him having his front teeth kicked out at Pompey and playing on. Shame it ended for him like it did as i don't think he was disrespecting the club as such (with the shirt throwing incident), think he was pissed off about being subbed (unless i'm remembering it wrongly).

Feel a bit sorry for Foyth. In hindsight, he is clearly a victim of the previous policy of not loaning out our youngsters. Something which basically has robbed him off his only realistic opportunity to learn the ropes through regular first team footie.

In the absence of that, it is extremely difficult to determine if he will be good enough in the long run or not. Considering where he is right now, it is probably best for all parties to part ways, and to give the lad a chance to save his career.

Foyth really seems to split opinion. For me, he is tidy on the ball, but that’s about all I can say really positively. He’s not strong, powerful, good in the air or particularly quick. Always thought he looks really slender.

I don’t think he’s a bad player, but not one I’ll miss much. Definitely reminds me of John Stones and although I think he’ll find his level in Spain, I doubt we’ll regret selling him

Think he will do well in Spain. Shame it didn't work out for him but the rise of Tanganga last season makes me less concerned with losing him.

Spain should be a good move for him and we could possibly get £15m for him in total if the loan goes well. Not too bad a deal for us.

We don't play like that now, for the way we play under Jose we need more of the tough, old fashioned central defenders imo. Personally I've never been impressed by Foyth.

I agree you are obviously not the best judge! Val - all you needed to be was at Stoke for his last game and you wouldn’t have thought that!

*I was referring to Val the player and not Val the itk!

Agree he doesn't fit the system so it's the right move for both parties. But it still doesn't mean we don't need defenders with good ability on the ball. Skriniar's best attribute is his ability on the ball. The only reason toby still gets a game is bc he's our best ball player.
