Odds on Liverpool fans singing songs about Kane/Elliott on Sunday?

But it'll be ok because they're Liverpool and it's funny to them.

But sing a song about them or one of their players and theres court injunctions and petitions to have you put in prison.

Offended by everything. Ashamed of nothing.

I just hope we put in a worthwhile performance on Sunday.

The intent is irrelevant. Origi went back to his home country, to the club where he began his youth career, and the fans of his current team celebrated him with a banner of him with a massive cock. You don't see how that could be humiliating for him? And even if not for him personally (maybe he doesn't give a shit) other black people who often face the same stereotyping.

If a white woman goes out with a black man and her friends ask her "is it true what they say about black men?". It doesn't matter if he's a doctor, lawyer, whatever, he is reduced to his physical features based on a stereotype (one with deeply racist origins, at that).

This isn't my opinion (I'm a white, straight, male, so I have things pretty easy). Like I said, plenty of black, Asian, gay people, along with others, have highlighted the issue and explained why it is problematic. White people don't (or rather, shouldn't) have the right to explain to them why it's harmless fun.

If you have a friend or friends who embrace it, fine, but keep it private. Also, consider the possibility that maybe, just maybe, they actually aren't that cool with it but have never spoken up for one reason or another.

Totally agree. It's much the same as the recent furore about Bernado Silva's tweet about Mendy, which was undoubtedly meant in a humerous and affectionate way, but which led to an immediate reaction from anti-racist campaigners demanding that BS get a significant ban. Fortunately, common sense kicked in, though not before he'd been forced to make a grovelling apology, to the FA - not his team-mate.

Wasn't the apology meant to be to those that had read his public tweet and were offended by it rather than the FA?

And isn't he still waiting for a decision, or did I miss something?

Only 8 years late. Could be worse, he could still have the t-shirt

Even if it is late, I think fair play to him for apoligising live on air. He didn't have to do that. I'm not a fan of him really but I was pleasantly surprised he actually did apologise rather than just try and explain it away.

Didn't really answer my question to be honest. However, I disagree with your comment. So again, honest question, is me telling my mate he looks like Dele Alli fueling a racist stereotype?

I get what you're saying, some people seem to think that comparing any black person with another black person is automaticallyracist, which is daft, but in the case of both this and the Silva one it's pretty clear that it's out of order. Both are stereotyping people based on the colour of their skin, whether or not you think having a massive nob is a compliment is neither here nor there. It's still stereotyping someone and reducing them down to a base physical characterisic based on their race - it's no different to saying all Jews have big noses or something at the end of the day. And the Silva one was comparing him to a blatantly racist cartoon of a "tribesman" or whatever you want to call it so regardless of whether it was just a joke it is still not OK

No, but he enables people to exhibit racist behaviour if he laughs it off/embraces it. Even if it wasn't racist, it's just not funny - and speaks volumes of the huge number of little cucks obsessed with cock and cock jokes.

Read a bit of history for fucks sake.

Google has been around a while. It's highly offensive and goes back to demonisation of black men in the slave days

Fair enough viewpoint however surely it being funny is completely dependant man the person. Just become someone finds a cock joke funny doesn’t make them a bar person does it?

Racism is nothing to do with intent
On the contrary, i'd say it has everything to do with intent! However, I find it ridiculous that, what should have been a few comments taking the rise out of their stupidity, has turned into a full scale debate..... And gone way off subject.

An individual finding something funny does not make it acceptable. Maybe Origi found it funny, maybe Benjamin Mendy found Silva's tweet funny, but that doesn't mean the wider consequences are inconsequential. At the very least, such jokes should be kept private, not made in hugely public arenas. The fact is, "black people have big dicks" is a stereotype with a deeply racist background and is just one of many supposedly positive stereotypes that many people on the receiving end have explicitly said are harmful. Maybe your black friend doesn't mind a white mate calling him the n-word in a friendly manner, that doesn't make it acceptable on a wider level.

On the contrary, i'd say it has everything to do with intent!

Intent matters to some degree, at least in determining if an individual is overtly racist. But intent does not matter when it comes to the potential consequences racist behaviour has, even if it is a result of ignorance rather than malice.

Can we leave this subject matter for elsewhere and get back to the important matter of taking the rise out of Liverpool?

Yep good point and apologies for derailing the thread.
