Is it the well timed runs behind defences, the well struck goals with either foot or head, the skill he shows in making various goals for himself or the slide rule passes that most make him look like a donkey?

Asking for a friend.

Why is the music always so shit on these videos?

Jose has spent decades in the game. If he feels this guy is what he needs and fits the budget, then I trust him. Of all managers to have faith in when they see a player, Jose has to be up there? I will certainly trust his judgement over some fans basing it on YouTube.

There's equally a theme here of far too many posters who likely knew little to nothing about Vinicius before this morning - and who still know the barest minimum about him - who nevertheless feel well enough placed to bitterly pronounce him to be not good enough.

Such stridently stated opinions, based on such scant knowledge, will inevitably invite condescension.

I concede that for sure, but I also think there have been a few that have expressed some doubts with somewhat fair reasoning too that probably feel unfairly bundled in to that.

Personally between work and family I don't get much time to watch full games outside of Spurs, the odd PL/SPL game at weekends (usually when visiting parents as the kids are occupied by them and I can relax). I also see a few CL/EL games if there are teams I like playing and the Mrs has some other crap on the main TV. I do play video games to unwind but haven't played FIFA regularly for 3-4 years now, football manager for over 10.

I have curated my twitter feed to follow a lot of good stat sites and people (journos and enthusiasts) that do watch a lot of European football who's opinion I respect. I also have a good mate that watches loads too who I often check in with (Chelsea fan sadly, but has the added benefit of him following as many of their loan players as possible in random leagues).

When links pop up to the likes of Edouard and Daka who have had serious amounts of buzz for a good 6-12 months now that really excites me. I do the best I can to have some knowledge on these things. I'm no football expert but I'd like to think over the years I can tell some signs of a top drawer player when I see one, even if just with YouTube clips (I do like to watch stuff like whole game touches vids as I find they show you more than just the good stuff the usual vids do).

Last night it felt like Edouard may be doable from Dragon's info so to find out this mystery exciting striker we've been hearing about for a few weeks was actually a less widely regarded 25yo from the Portuguese league that could be coming off a purple patch it was a bit of a disappointment.

It's not like the club's scouting record is so strong it is above questioning. We have dropped some clangers over the years (understandably). Some like Ndombele simply caught all of us out.

If this is Jose's guy and Levy backs Jose by signing him then great, thats all we can really ask for from him.

Jose isn't going to take a player just because he's with Mendes. Jose is a winner, he isn't going to accept a player on his agent's recommendation. He'll know everything about him and how he wants to fit him in.

Also, I don't understand why ppl are getting a bit worried about the Mendes situation. Firstly, we'd all have been happy with signing Neves, Moutinho and Jiminez. Secondly, Levy would never allow the club to become what wolves are.

It'll work for us in some situations, we won't use his connections for all players. Hopefully it'll help us steal a march on some big talents though.

Just watched a video in YouTube and all I can say is that whilst he looks good (as per usual with YouTube), he has a really annoying goal celebration.

If it is him, hopefully will prove me and others wrong. Just not the name I’d hoped for.

In fact, he sounds like a disease you might contract. I’ve been diagnosed with Vinícius.

Youtube or not. Personally i am not excited by this, Not that it matters, but just feels yet again like a "spurs" signing, hoping a player will kick on. Hope i'm wrong and he bangs them in. For such a big player he does not look like a typical "header" striker you could put on in the 80 minute to get one in.

Why did we not just go for prem experience - Wilson or King etc. don’t understand this move, assuming Mendez is pushing it.
Because if we go for Wilson or King the same people would moan about lack of ambition, why we aren't spending 40m when others are etc etc

Just looking at a few youtube clips of him and from what I can tell, he is a complete forward who has a bit of everything to his game. Whats really impressed me with the limited viewing I have seen is his ability to bring others into the game. A thumbs up for me if that is what Jose has ordered and Levy delivers, then I have no qualms. I personally think this type of forward will do well in the prem.

And therein I think is where you’ve gone wrong, you’re applying nowhere near enough salt, especially considering that dragon is not SC verified.

I mean cmon guys. Are we really being picky about possibly signing a mid 20s golden boot winner from a league thats better than daka's or Edouard's in a Benfica team that wasn't that great this season. I mean like really. No signing is guaranteed to be a hit, but I really like the look of him from the videos I've seen and the matches I've watched.

He’s no Berbatov but to suggest he’s a donkey is bewildering. Can only assume either a judgement was made on his physique or saw one tiny clip. He’s got good touch and a nice left foot shot. YouTube video scouting alert, I quite like how he looks to set up others rather than aimlessly hitting a shot, can see likes of Dele feeding off him if they both started.

Well he doesn't run past mid-table Austrian league defenders at 6000 mph so therefore he's clearly shit.

(I do rate Daka, but I also don't see how these compilations make Vinicius look like a donkey)
