Lloris my MOTM

Lloris - 8 - succession of great saves
Walker - 5 - Some small good bits amongst a lot of crap
Dier - 6 - Dealt with the dirty Zamora and Austin combo ok
Vertonghen - 6 - Ditto
Davies - 6 - Really want him to be better than Rose. Isn't.

Mason - 6.5 - Combative as usual, got forward well, but we had no control in midfield for much of the game.
Bentaleb - 5.5 - First average game in a while, looked knackered, got knocked around a bit.

Chadli - 5 - Just didn't do enough - he either seems to score and get involved or almost disappear.
Eriksen - 6 - Not at his best but still influential.
Townsend - 6 - Some typically poor bits, good cross for the first goal, some decent counter running.

Kane - 7.5 - Did little but score two goals. Bothered, scored two goals.

SUBS:

Dembele - 7 - Looked well up for it, got us more control of the ball for periods.
Lamela - 6.5 - Started a couple of good counters, held the ball up on his own well once, lost it a couple of times.
Stambouli - NET - Not sure he touched the ball.

Surprised by the first 2 Walker ratings.

He made a really bad back pass but apart from that he was really solid defensively, covered vertonghen well at times and got up and down the right flank well for over 90 mins.

Wasnt amazing but wasn't dreadful. Our defensive issues were down to dier and vertonghen being unable to cope with long balls

Why?

Anyways.

Lloris 8
Walker 7
Dier 6
Verts 6
Davies 6
Mason 7
Bentaleb 6
Chadli 6
Eriksen 7
Townsend 7
Kane 8
Dembele 7
Lamela/Stambouli - Not really enough time for a fair rating.

Fazio should have played against this side. Haven't seem him lose a header.

Much like Naughton and Rose last season, people are making him and Townsend the scapegoat now. Stupid really. Played well today.

Lloris - 9 - MOTM Won't get the plaudits he deserves due to the Kane brace.
Walker - 6 - Brainfarty
Verts - 6.5 - OK
Dier - 6.5 - OK
Davies - 6 - I think Rose is probably the better fullback on current form
Bentaleb - 5.5 - Poor today, understandably looked leggy
Mason - 7 - Good
Chadli - 6 - Didn't really turn it on today
Townsend - 7 - Direct and dangerous, would have scored higher if it wasn't for his atrocious shooting.
Eriksen - 6.5 - Quiet. Unlucky when he hit the woodwork
Kane - 8.5 - Took both chances well, didn't do much wrong.

Dembele - 7.5 - Very good cameo
Lamela - 6.5 - added legs.
Stambo - NET

Poch - 7.5 - Made the correct changes. A little worried about us not being able to put teams to the sword.

Thought there were 2 or 3 times when Kane played some exceptional passes but was let down by the finishing of others, he's a complete centre forward.

I thought he was awful. Just makes constantly poor decisions and twice errors nearly led to goals, first Austin and then Hoilett. He tries to shield ball but just ends up falling over and not even getting a foul and then has worst decision making when it comes to what to do when ball bounces, and few times ducked and a player owuld then get past him.

Much like Naughton and Rose last season, people are making him and Townsend the scapegoat now. Stupid really. Played well today.
Or maybe some people think he was bad today and gave him that rating.

Shooting when he only had to roll the ball in to the path of Mason who was clean through on goal was very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very stupid and deserves a mark of about -2/10 all on its own, to be fair.

Edit: And what about running into the goalkeeper when clean through second half? :wtf:

Lloris 8 - great saves and yet again keeps us in it
Walker 4 - could have cost us at least a goal today, let the attack down a few times and just general Walker-ness. Just don't understand his logic although did provide one fantastic cross early on
Vert 5.5 - had a couple of dodgy moments so gets marked slightly lower than Dier
Dier 6 - average game
Davies 6 - average game
Bentaleb 6 - struggled a little today but up against a strong and physical midfield on a tight pitch. Will learn from this and games like this are going to happen with young and inexperienced players
Mason 7.5 - same again, seemed to get a bullied first half but a great assist and had a much improved second half
Townsend 7 - Was dangerous first half and gets and assist. Not so much second half
Eriksen 6.5 - has had a few poor games recently but a little better today. Unlucky not to score
Chadli 6 - nothing standout, nothing bad
Kane 8 - two great finishes yet again. Really thought we'd kick on at 2-0 and he could get a couple more. He surely has to get a league hatrick before the end of the season. Think thats three braces now?

Dembele 6.5 - did the job he needed to when coming on

Don't think Lamela or Stambouli had enough time to influence the game so no rating

Chadli was so anonymous today...and not for the first time. He's a talented unit, but he can't half hide.

Another hard day to make some ratings, I try without looking at any other judgements. Maybe I missed a few things but that is just how I have seen it:

Lloris - 7 - Exceptional keeper, saved us again but he could have produced a penalty, he totally missed it there.

Dier - 5 - Unfortunately lots of problems and nervous moments.
Vertonghen - 6 - Not always spot on but overall okay
Davies - 6 - Rose gives me more confidence. He gets better with more game time in a row but he won't get that. I think we won't see him too much again this season, unless Rose gets injured.
Walker - 5.5 - The header towards Austin was shock horror, aside that good and bad moments. Doesn't deal too confident/intelligent in lots of the games.

Mason - 7 - My MOTM, in a real hard game he was a bright spot for me and did the right thing 90% of the time. Good assist!
Bentaleb - 6 - Had a penalty shout against him and there are refs out there who would have him sent off for that. But another very hard day to deal for him he managed to perform okay overall. The 7 day break will do well for him.

Townsend - 6 - Good assist for the goal, was more in focus than Chadli, but also managed to waste some good positions with very bad ideas.
Chadli - 5.5 - was he there first half? He was nicely involved at times in the second half but didnt do enough today.
Eriksen - 6.5 - Not a good first half but he was a very dangerous man for us in the second. I think better on the left than in the middle.

Kane - 7 - two goals, hats off. Overall not his most influential game (besides goals of course)

Dembele - 6.5 - I think we are more balanced with him in the middle as his physical presence is good in the crowded no. 10 place.
Lamela - more annoying than good stuff
Stambouli - whatever

Loved how Poch jumped in and protected Mason. Get a real feeling of unity with this team and it stems from our younger ones.

Also love how feisty Mason is.

Lloris MOTM.

Kane got the goals and, despite some mistakes, I think the Townsend/Walker pairing looks dangerous on the right side.

Contrast that to the left where, without Rose, we don't have anywhere near the overlapping, attacking threat.

Goes to show the need for dynamic attacking full backs in our system.

I really like Davies. As a defender I think he shows a tonne of promise but I'm starting to wonder whether he'll actually work in Poch's system, which relies so much on a quick, athletic pair of full backs who like to attack space.
