Lloris...........8.........Expect the exceptional now. Has set the bar very high.. Merci.
Walker.........6.......So close to giving a goal away. What was he thinking? He wasn't. Otherwise quite good.
Dier ............6.......Solid again.Though found QPR direct approach uncomfortable at times.
Vertonghen..6......Some dodgy moments but all came good in the end.
Davies..........6.......Gave Danny a rest, little else.
Mason..........7 .......Improved as the game went on.Like his combative spirit.
Bentaleb.......6.......Off game but he's entitled to one occasionally.
Chadli...........6.......In and out performance again.
Townsend. 6. .... Beautiful free kick. Otherwise as usual promising but not delivering.
Eriksen.........7+.... Doesn't know how to play badly. Unlucky not to get a couple.
Kane.............7+ ....Does what it says on the tin...Goalscorer. My MOM for his crucial contribution.

Two must win games this week and we won them. Credit Poch for sticking with the players he trusts
and they delivered. Neither game was as close as the score suggests although QPR could have gone in a goal up today.
We'd have still won though. It's the Tottenham way these days.

I'm rating everyone a T for Tired. Thank god QPR was on the schedule instead a decent team. Kane played some nice stuff even if he didn't have the energy he usually has. That ball to set up Walker...woof!

Lloris - 7.5 - A very good game and we needed him to be alert today, because of the frequency with which QPR bombarded our box

Walker - 6.5 - Other than one horrendous back pass, he did little wrong, unless you're the sort of person who keeps a mental clipboard of minor Walker-errors to beat him with. He was OK in defence and applied good pressure in attack.

Vertonghen - 6 - Playing against a side that rains in high balls is not his strength. He coped. One good run forward.

Dier - 6.5 - Played pretty well, but this was really a game for Fazio.

Davies - 6 - Defended competently, but contributed little else.

Bentaleb - 6 - Looked tired, passed OK alongside Mason, but lacked dynamism.

Mason - 7.5 - A very good game, including a skilful assist. Passed well, covered a bit for Bentaleb, tackled, pressed, always looked forward and stayed busy throughout. My MotM by a whisker.

Chadli - 6 - Competent, uninspired.

Townsend - 6.5 - Looked threatening and too quick for QPR's defence, but could/should have had a goal to go with his assist.

Eriksen - 6 - Workmanlike, plus one great shot that might have gone in on another day.

Kane - 7.5 - Virtually invisible for the first half-hour, then won the match for us. Until he scored, I was drawing the conclusion that he was knackered. But he had enough energy to beat the QPR offside trap after half-time.

Dembele - 6.5 - Did was he was brought on to do, which was to slow QPR down, only dallied on the ball once.

Lamela - 6 - Applied pressure, closed down, lost the ball once.

Loved how Poch jumped in and protected Mason. Get a real feeling of unity with this team and it stems from our younger ones.

Also love how feisty Mason is.
Me too! I like the fact that in Mason, Bentaleb, Rose and Dier with have some players with a bit of the nasty about them!

Mason, Bentaleb and Rose are all really fiery dudes!

Surprised by the first 2 Walker ratings.

He made a really bad back pass but apart from that he was really solid defensively, covered vertonghen well at times and got up and down the right flank well for over 90 mins.

Wasnt amazing but wasn't dreadful. Our defensive issues were down to dier and vertonghen being unable to cope with long balls
And a great cross that Kane should have scored from (a foot either side of Green and it was in)

Poch - 6

Poch got it wrong from the start and should have rotated a bit. Dembele should have started over Chadli and played the 10. Also would have started Lamela over Townsend. QPR were ripe to get shredded by quick incisive passing on a counter in the first half as it was wide open. The CM 2 couldnt control the ball, so we had to rely on the counter and it didnt really work. Townsend did okay in the first half but it really wasnt the right game for him, IMO. Fazio also probably could have started too, but whatever.

If not for Lloris and QPR's poor finishing, we would have been down 3-0 after 25 minutes. The CM2 was getting shredded, we couldnt hold the ball and the back 4 was shocking. We scored off a set piece(!!!!!!) totally against the run of play. Did better in the 2nd half, and Dembele coming on changed the game, but still not good enough.

We really need to put these games away though. Cant keep letting in late goals and rest on our laurels. Poch NEEDS to shore up the back 4 already and we need to keep at it until the final whistle. If I am Poch, I am concentrating solely on defending this week until the last day or so used for match prep.

All in all, not a good performance in the least. If we were playing a better side, the result would have been ALOT different. Very lucky to win and only concede 1.

Good job guys!

DM) Nabil Bentaleb – 7.5

Hugely important for his side, as QPR were aggressive in midfield. He retained possession well, and provided a platform to attack from.

Here are the player ratings for Tottenham’s 2-1 win over QPR:

GK) Hugo Lloris – 6.5

Saved his side a number of times, with Kyle Walker particularly grateful when Lloris denied Charlie Austin after a shocking back pass.

RB) Kyle Walker – 5.5

Solid going forward, and put a few good crosses in. His defending was poor for the most part however, and he almost gifted Austin a goal.

CB) Eric Dier – 6.5

A decent performance in the centre of defence, but struggled against the physicality of Bobby Zamora.

CB) Jan Vertonghen – 6.5

A shaky showing from the Belgian, and Spurs would have been punished if they were facing a better team.

LB) Ben Davies – 7.0

Didn’t get forward as much as Walker, but was far more solid defensively and far less wasteful in possession.

DM) Nabil Bentaleb – 7.5

Hugely important for his side, as QPR were aggressive in midfield. He retained possession well, and provided a platform to attack from.

CM) Ryan Mason – 7.0

A great box-to-box display, linked the midfield and defence perfectly.

CAM) Nacer Chadli – 6.0

Swapped positions with Christian Eriksen regularly, but was largely a ghost.

RAM) Andros Townsend – 7.0

Provided the assist for the opening goal, and looked constantly dangerous. His end product still needs a huge amount of work, but he was one of the men trying to make

LAM) Christian Eriksen – 6.5

A relatively mixed bag from the Danish midfielder, who looked out of sorts but still created moments of magic. He started in the centre, but moved out wide quickly.

ST) Harry Kane – 8.5

Man of the moment once again, the Spurs star bagged a brace to give his side a win. This is the sixth consecutive away game he’s scored in, and he doesn’t look like slowing down.

That is reeal note

As the last post said Bentaleb was much better than most on here have said. Incredibly important player for us now. Won almost every header he challenged for unlike many others and against a very aggressive QPR central midfield stood up manfully all afternoon (for a very young man)

Lloris was again called upon far too often and was great

MOTM has to go to Harry Kane. Ran around all afternoon. Scored 2 good goals and now has 26 this season with 10 games left. Unbelievable

Lloris my MOTM

Lloris - 8 - succession of great saves
Walker - 5 - Some small good bits amongst a lot of crap
Dier - 6 - Dealt with the dirty Zamora and Austin combo ok
Vertonghen - 6 - Ditto
Davies - 6 - Really want him to be better than Rose. Isn't.

Mason - 6.5 - Combative as usual, got forward well, but we had no control in midfield for much of the game.
Bentaleb - 5.5 - First average game in a while, looked knackered, got knocked around a bit.

Chadli - 5 - Just didn't do enough - he either seems to score and get involved or almost disappear.
Eriksen - 6 - Not at his best but still influential.
Townsend - 6 - Some typically poor bits, good cross for the first goal, some decent counter running.

Kane - 7.5 - Did little but score two goals. Bothered, scored two goals.

SUBS:

Dembele - 7 - Looked well up for it, got us more control of the ball for periods.
Lamela - 6.5 - Started a couple of good counters, held the ball up on his own well once, lost it a couple of times.
Stambouli - NET - Not sure he touched the ball.

Rose has been one of our best players this season. Can't stand fans like you

Much like Naughton and Rose last season, people are making him and Townsend the scapegoat now. Stupid really. Played well today.

It's not stupid, it's people's opinion.

I'm not scapegoating him. I'm a massive fan of Walker and consistently defend him against those who single him out.

But he was very poor today, making three or four huge errors both at the back and going forward.

He needs to rediscover his previous form but he's clearly not playing well at the moment.

Wow someone who watched the game !!!! Yesssss! Great assessment mate, thought bentalebs energy and battling was excellent today and he was always an option when others went hiding a bit. First half he held us together in the middle of the park.
