I could see very clearly that Sheffield were getting the upper hand and that event they would score. What concerns me is that Stellini and Conte appear not to have noticed this. They made the changes far to late to stop this Sheffield momentum. Personally I am sick of Conte. I want a manager who plays good entertaining football and is committed long term to Tottenham. Conte fails on both counts.

Morning to reflect on last nights debacle. The club don't want to win anything its clear look at our history recently in cups etc etc we lose to sides that 99% of the time that we as a club should be turning over. There is no guarantee we would have won this years FA or Lge cup but boy we had a really good opportunity and once again we failed to deliver. I cannot understand the wholesale changes that were made, why??? You do that at your peril which we have found out may times before. there is no learning from it. There were players out there last night I hope I never see again as they were a disgrace, I won't mention names as you all know who they are and constantly let us down. Some of the decisions made are nothing sort of calamitous and is costing us time and time again. Until there is change for the good we will never have a winning mentality.
So true and the main issue is that there is no desire to win from the top down, so if your employer doesn't care if you win then how does that filter through the club. The manager is employed to get top 4 that's it. There something fundamentally wrong in the club when this keeps happening year on year with different coaches/managers.

Alot of our players and they've done so for years definitely believe they can rock up to games and coast through them and think we'll win.

You wouldn’t accept that attitude from a team of winners………that’s why they’re ‘winners’ after all. So for our team to rock up with that attitude is criminal beyond belief…….we haven’t even got a trophy cabinet let alone room………

Oh I 100% agree with that, and completely share that frustration. Not backing Poch was our sliding doors moment imo.

The football is of a brand that if you are winning, you grin and bear it as you can enjoy the success - but when we don't, it's just dull, we seem to often get played off the park. Overall, Levy Hires the managers, blame gets shared around everyone for the overall season if it's a failure, he's certainly not immune.

I just think beating lower league teams is a low bar, that we should be doing regardless.
We definitely should and anyone on here would have known that Sheffield United would have been bang up for this.

I personally don't think this was the cause of us losing last night. The reason was too many changes made to an already fragile team with sub-standard player replacements.

No adequate Romero cover, Kulu rested, out of form Son starting, unfit/match ready Lucas, Sarr/Hojbjerg pairing that have never played together, Perisic and Sanchez just not good enough.

I had no issue with resting Harry and replacing with Richy. It's what we bought him for.

I posted in the team V Shef Utd thread that needed to go full strength for this one. Quite a few(the majority I'd say) thought we should rotate so it's not like it was something a lot of fans wouldn't have done. I knew after the first 15 minutes we were in for a rough night because the team started dropping deeper and deeper after the early back line mistakes again. I was actually hoping we'd go into the break one nil down so we could have had a reset at half time. That back line without Romero is at panic stations from the first mistake until the final whistle, and the rest of the team don't trust they can keep the ball out of the net.

So Whose fault was it last night?

A/Was it the players fault because they didn't want it enough or work hard enough.
B/ Was it the Coaches fault because he picked those players and didn't change it soon enough
C/Was it Levy's fault because the squad is half full of players that are just not good enough and/or mentally right to win competitions and be consistent.

The real answer is all of the above. Of the players that played some of them didn't put enough of a shift in Son is the prime example of this doesn't tackle or close down just occupies space when we are out of possession and he's a complete passenger when he's not scoring. Stellini/Conte or whoever picked that side got it all wrong trusting some of those players to get it done without the big guns was a big mistake. Finally Levy has left us in a position where unless Kane and Romero play we are either toothless up top, or deer in the headlights at the back. Danjuma is a prime example of everything Levy prioritises as far as this football club. VFM regardless if whether it's the right fit, or what the manager is asking for. At least they got to save that £50million he told us all we had to spend on the squad though the share issue though hey.

You know who wasn't at fault though the fans who had to sit through that and sung their hearts out in a positive manor for the full 90. The only part of this club to come out of last night with any credit whatsoever.
I'm a Spurs fan since 1971 and Trix has this spot on!! You could apply most of the above (just change the names) to almost any period since I started supporting the club.
There is and always has been an entitlement that runs through this club along with a poor work ethic and unwillingness to graft on a regular basis.
I could go through the whole team last night but I'll just pick two, Son and Sanchez, I mean really?

It sickens me to my stomach, I'm sorry to say.

My lasting image of last night is of Sanchez stood like an obedient schoolboy with hands neatly clasped behind his back making no attempt to prevent the goal scorer get his shot away.

Both him and Hojbjerg did absolutely nothing to stop the goal scorer running through and shooting.

It was embarrassing from both of them.

Probably going to get pelters for this, but I find it funny how a few players that started in our wins v City and Chelsea are now suddenly not good enough again (Dier, Davies, Hojbjerg).

The same style and formations was used in those games, too. So it can't be that bad, right?

Levy is getting pelters, but it's down to the manager and players to win the match on the day.

This defeat annoys me, don't get me wrong, but there are so many OTT reactions after every defeat and it's laughable.
the point is they're not consistently good, which is what we actually deserve for the money Levy charges to watch. Take Romero out and the CBs as a unit are much weaker. Take Kane, Kulu or Bentancur out. We haven't got enough good players in the squad to challenge on more than one front, that's why we've fallen over so badly in the FA in recent years.

I am absolutely furious about last night. Real chance to win some silverware. Can you imagine what Kane was thinking on the coach/flight back last night? Bet he’s on the phone the morning asking his agent to get him out the club this summer.
I hope he was thinking he should have done better himself, like the others

Forster should of saved it regardless of the shit defending in front of him. We desperately need an overhaul in the GK department if the likes of Austin and Whiteman are not good enough to step in.

Personally I'd give Austin game time. He cannot do any worse than Forster. Yes he makes the odd good save but when you watch him he is very slow and clumbersome.

The problem is that we brought in a load of players who were pretty much stone cold and expected them to gel instantly. Sanchez and Lucas have hardly kicked a ball in months, Sarr and Hojbjerg haven't played together, Porro has had one outing. Then we had players badly out of form in Son, Richarlison, Kulusevski and Perisic. I can pretty much guarantee that had Bentancur and Bissouma not been injured, Sarr and Skipp wouldn't have had a kick up til now. That is atrocious squad management imo, especially when you have a manager who whinges about squad depth one year and then refuses to let players at his disposal get a sniff, only to throw them in at the deep end when there's no alternative.

17 shots to their 7

we only had 4 on target and they scored with their only one.

I've supported Spurs long enough to realise there is no solution or answer as to why this keeps happening to us. It just does and will keep on happening. Any hopes and dreams of seeing Son and Kane lift a trophy at Spurs are gone.

On a positive note looking forward to the F1 track, and some of the gorgeous grub. Just need a Zara, M&S and WHSmiths in the stadium now and it'll be perfect.

It’s not the winning but the taking the piss out of the fans that really counts ☹️

I’ve been supporting Spurs for over 60 years and must be one of the very few fans on this site who saw us play in the old Second Division. I’ve seen many poor performances.

But rarely have I seen such a lackadaisical, low energy performance in an important game as last night.

I want a team that plays with pride and passion; one that has a go.

And it would be a bonus to have players in their right positions that look as though they know how to play together to get the best out of each other.
