Went to the game last night with my brother and his 3 kids. Sat in the Paxton Upper and we had 3 lads sat right behind us. One of them literally didn't shut up for the whole 90 minutes. It was like the worst running commentary at way too high a volume you've ever heard in your life! He thought he was funny and if only he had been it would have been bearable. I'm the last person for a confrontation but I was so close to turning around and telling him to shut the fuck up! I know he was just a cocky little shite but if I still had a season ticket and was near him every week I'd have to say something. Anyone had to actually say something?

I have a season ticket in the East Lower and unfortunately I have a "running commentary" man right behind me. He's harmless enough so no one says anything, but the guy doesn't shut up for 90mins and there are times it does my fucking head in, particularly during the AVB era when it was bad enough paying to watch that shit without having to listen to some dick droning on. If the game has stopped or there's nothing happening he just waffles on about something else. Proper verbal diarrhoea.

The other people around us are a decent bunch in the main. It's weird, I've been in the same seat for 10 years and seen one lad grow up from a child to an adult and yet I still don't know all of their names! It's going to be strange when we leave WHL and I finally have to say goodbye to a bunch of people that I've known longer than most of my work colleagues and yet I don't really know much about them at all.

I'm lucky that the bunch around me where I have my ST are a decent bunch but I ventured to the North Upper for the recent Monaco game and the two guys behind me spent the whole match complaining about Josh, Son, Nabil etc - every misplaced pass, every time Carroll tried something that didn't come off, every time we passed sideways or backwards, in fact every time we didn't do something wonderful. The type of guys who were raving when Nabil did a bit of skill but were then slating him when he tried it and it didn't come off..

No understanding that we were 3-0 up (at the time) with youth players, those returning from injury etc I can only assume they usually watch Barca and everything else is a bit of a disappointment?

Fuck me! If you're complaining now what the hell are you like when it's genuinely shit?????

I genuinely think this is a bit of a golden moment, if you aren't happy now maybe Spurs aren't the team for you?

Whenever I've been to see Tottenham or Oxford United I've always had 1 or 2 around me who have done nothing but moan at every slightest thing and then barely give any credit even when there's a goal, like it was either a fluke or a sarcastic remark how they should do that more...

I cannot think of a worse experience (that isn't violent) and as such I much rather watch from home, well currently I live abroad, so not a lot of choice, but still. People better cheer the feck up when the new stadium is built!

You weren't in gangway 55 row 20 were you because that sounds very similar to the numpty that was behind me?

I actually haven't been to Spurs for the last 18 months or so because it got like this every time I went.

Used to be I would get general sale tickets and only ever in the Park Lane right behind the goal, and the atmosphere was always great. Positive, singing, quite a young crowd. This was in the Jol - Harry era when everything was golden and we won four Champion's League's in a row or something.

It's become way more miserable and toxic over recent seasons. We also now rarely sell out, which on one hand means general sale (or ST re-sale) tickets are now available in much better seats all over the stadium, but on the other hand usually now means you're surrounded by a combination of tourists sitting in silence or jabbering away loudly and quickly in Foreign, and shaven-headed dour old bastards who've been sitting in the same seat for twenty years moaning about the same shit and just changing the names of players they abuse. These miserable old bastards honestly make it feel like you're at Upton Park sometimes since they sound exactly like every West Ham fan I know.

I've not been tempted back yet this season as the mates I used to go with have now moved away/had kids etc and can't make it so easily, and it's still just not a great experience anymore. Hopefully the optimism of the Poch era and more importantly the new stadium can make a difference.

Used to have this total dickhead in front of me, with his dad. Both of them only turn up to slag off the players. One day he was giving it the usual and calling Lennon out all the time particularly when it went silent, so I started cheering everything that Lennon did and singing there's only one Aaron Lennon etc. So this complete idiot turned round and offered me out. I was gobsmacked. I said to him 'are you actually starting on a fellow spurs fan for cheering one of our players?' 'Yeah' was the response! Then some other moron behind me taps me in the shoulder and says 'have you got a problem? he's my mate' We had a bit of an argument then this enormous guy next to me (day tripper) stood up and asked these blokes what their problem was and they shat themselves, sat down and shut up. I still went sporadically for another couple of years but I'm now basically completely put off the match day experience and have given it up. I used to absolutely love it too.

These people obviously have such shit lives that they are left seething with negativity and rage - the thought of this loser hating his life does cheer me up tbh.

And yes I do hope he's reading this and is too embarrassed to even comment - the chances of him fathoming out a computer are slim though.

Used to love going to the games but I prefer to watch it at home nowdays.
The constant abuse and same old banter between fans is laughable.
I'm sure spurs fan are no different from the rest of football fans but I wish we would sing more pro spurs songs and less anti other teams song ie the sol Campbell song that I hear most weeks
I'm with you on the Campbell song, 15 years and we still sing his name every week, talk about a bunch of numpties.

No word of a lie; I was at a game with some mug shouting the exact same shit, until we reminded him Jenas wasn't playing. He also had to be reminded each team are only allowed to make 3 substitutions, after calling for the manager to bring on numerous players, undoubtedly no longer at the club.
I too have sat near the jenas you **** guy. One that stood out was when Jenas went on a real lung buster of a run, ended up hitting the post, everyone else clapped, he just shouted "jenas you ****", forgetting the good work before the miss. It made me and my mate laugh, and has actually become a bit of a running joke.

Still to this day we blame Jenas for anything. This guys hatred was so irrational it was actually funny.

I've been guilty of being a bit over zealous with my support at times i.e. Standing up and singing amongst a whole block that doesn't join in, repeatedly. What does get me is when that same block give a collective sigh at a loose pass or a backwards one when they're doing nothing to encourage the team positively.

I hate it when people make noise at a football game. Sometimes i wish i was an arsenal fan and i could enjoy a game in peace and quiet

I sit near the most annoying posh family that just moan moan moan. Even when we are a couple of goals up. The old guy just shouts like he thinks the players will hear him from the upper tier.

Only got to put up for it for one more season.. (Hopefully)

Firstly this is funny and I do get it.
Secondly..... a noisy atmosphere is very different to a bunch of irritating noisy pricks.

I hate being at a game where veryone sits around me silently, when a song starts I start trying to sing and not one person around joins so I end up having to stop but you can bet they will groan and moan.

Just Thursday some old guy provided a running commentary. Couple of gems. Dier went down injured " get Bentaleb on the pitch manger what are you doing? Take of Dier bring on Bentaleb" Bentaleb comes on "Bloody hell, what's Bentaleb doing on the pitch, whose idea was it to bring him on"

"well played Oo-new-mah I've always rated him good player. Oo-new-mah what are you doing, you're being too casual"

Also at Asteras match last season I spent most of the evenining sitting in front of some guys slagging lof "Lamla" " I can do that for £30m" bla bla bla. Lamela pops in the rabona, I stood up and turned round and started cheering in their face. Was probably being a bit of a tool myself there but god they deserved it
