Lost to the better team, so no complaints about the result from me.

I thought Hojbjerg was playing pretty well up until that weird 60 seconds or so towards the end. Vicario also played well, but I thought he could have done better for their goal. Not sure I agree with others in that it was a foul. I think if I were ref I'd have given a goal.

A bit disappointed we didn't make more of Werner's runs in behind. I know Walker's quick, but I'd have liked to have seen it given to him a couple of times to test their back line.

Disappointed to be out, but we move.

Werner would have been our best player by a country mile had any of his multiple runs off Walker been seen by any one of our players. We will work on that, Madders will add to the threat for the rest of the season.

City showed up with fantastic movement between the lines and quick interplay. Any team would have struggled against that and 0-1 was not a terrible result.

I don’t think signing Werner permanently would be a wise choice either whilst we still have Richie and Brennan in the squad too
If I was Werner, I’d be massively frustrated tonight. He made some excellent runs off of the ball and was ignored pretty much every single time. When we have players in the midfield who are able to actually look up and pass in one touch rather than six, I think he’ll be a very valuable asset to the squad.

Need a striker in the summer thats for sure

How many chances were made for Richarlison tonight? We couldn't make a pass from midfield into our wide players, failed to at every opportunity. Richy isn't the best but he's shown recently can convert chances.

Remember we didn’t have our main goal scorer tonight and our main creative outlet barely played. I’m not too disheartened. We will improve.

Man City were at their best tonight and we were not. Yet we only lost by one goal that they scored near the end of the match from a set piece. We are only going to get better.

Calling the only cup competition we are still in a "distraction" is a bit of a piss take for me. Not that I expected us to win but I can't pretend I'm gutted we're out.

Well sure if you read it that way.

I’d love to stay in, I’d love to win it. In fact I’ve spent many a year lately on this site saying I’d rather win a cup than finish top four and taking the disagrees.

I wouldn’t refer to it as a distraction whilst we’re in it. The point I’m making is that now weee out of it, there’s no other excuse is there? No Europe, no cups, so no need for rotation, no need for resting players, no need for difficult team decisions. There’s basically now no excuse that anyone can offer for us not playing our best team every week (injuries allowing) and going all out each and every game.

That’s the point I’m making.

Not a lot we didn't know already. Good defensively, very committed, but without Son lacking any kind of cutting edge up front.

Still, somehow, we haven't had Bentancur and Maddison on the pitch together. Hopefully that changes on Wednesday but TBH Maddison looked every bit a player just back from a bad injury so wouldn't be at all surprised to see him on the bench again.

Gutted to lose it like that but they always seem to find a bloody way to score.

After 30 Minutes we looked better against City than in each game we won in the last few years. Don‘t forget: We played without Kane and Son. And also without Sarr and Maddison. And Bissouma… Top-3 finish! 💪

Disappointed we lost another game with Skipp and Hojbjerg in midfield.

hipster tactics from Ange. Madders on way too late.
Lol, im not their biggest fans, but until his two brain farts at the end, pierre was man of the match today for me, and skippy brought on some decent energy when bentancur was not playing well at all today.
