Lamela hasnt shown enough I dont think. rushing him into games, have 3 or 4 bad games, will do him no use. Thoguh I am not sure saving him for Villa to play in a skeleton side will do him any good either.
Its tricky games like this, where to home fans will be bouncing, the inferior but home team will be looking for a win, that having both Lennon and Townsend in the side would work well. Having that pace, on both flanks, on the wings, and with Eriksens ability to pick a pass and release both players on the counter, would be a serious weapon (of mass destruction).

Siggy doesn't deserve to get dropped and he will not be dropped so for those who have an agenda against him as a player for whatever reason, please take it elsewhere.

This is what I think AVB is gonna go for

Agenda? It's using the right players against Cardiff. Without Rose to overlap him when he run inwards, we become toothless like last year when Naughton starts.

Agreed, unless Rose/Dembele is OK then this seems the pretty obvious lineup. No way Lamela starts, didn't do enough on Thursday to warrant taking Andros' spot...AVB played it right, if asked why Lamela doesn't start he can say he's still a bit tired from Tromso. I think he'll come on as a sub. Sigurdsson won't be dropped because of his 2 goals, I do feel he plays a lot better with Rose, we'll see how attacking Verts is considering his lack of pace. Wouldn't be against Fryers or Naughton at LB, to be honest, let them play, neither has done anything wrong.
I believe people like you are watching Lamela with Bale tinted glasses. You think he didnt do enough after one game? He certainly did much more than the likes of Siggs. When is he to find his feet then? On the bench? Give the guy a fucking chance!

No agenda - just legitimate concerns about him in our system highlighted even more so in Rose's absence which will make us too narrow and congested if Kyle 'bang average' Naughton plays.

I don't particularly rate him as a player does that mean I have an agenda against him?

True, He scored two beauties against Norwich but had/has been fairly average for the most part imo. One thing about him he doesn't like look he sulks and gives 100%, so fair play to him.

Lamela hasnt shown enough I dont think.

A lovely pass for Defoe's goal, which he may have made everyone think looked so easy, probably was to him. And some very nice touches and close control plus tracking back when required ALL in his first full 90minutes.

Hell yeh i would defo sit him on the bench after that, he most certainly isn't going to get any better o_O

Will probably be this:
Lloris
Walker Dawson Vertonghen Naughton
Sandro--Paulinho
Townsend---Eriksen---Sigurdsson
Soldado

I think AVB is going with whoever is playing well in the league stays in the team.

I think the team for Cardiff will be:
GK - Lloris
LB - Vertonghen
CB - Kaboul
CB - Dawson
RB - Walker
CM - Sandro
CM - Paulinho
AM - Sigurdsson
AM - Eriksen
AM - Townsend
CF - Soldado

Subs
Friedel
Naughton
Chiriches
Dembele
Holtby
Lamela
Defoe

I'm guessing Rose will be out for this game and Chadli, Lennon and Capoue remain sidelined. I also think AVB may go for Sandro over Dembele as it's an away game and Sandro might provide some extra defensive cover. Also it might be worthwhile giving Dembele a rest.

If Kaboul is not OK for this game then I would guess we may see Chiriches make his debut but if his work permit is still not 100% confirmed (and Kaboul is injured) I can see Naughton going in at LB and Vertonghen going back to CB.

100% agree

Think your starting 11 is spot on for this match, I added in who I would like to see subbed during the game. Soldado can play the full 90 if its a tight game but if we dominate the game why not throw Defoe on at 60 min? No point in running Soldado's batteries flat when we have Chelscum next weekend.

Holtby and Eriksen can share the spot behind the ST as they both have the capability to unlock defenses.

Lamela as a sub purely because we don't need to show full force unless Cardiff play well. I am in no way underestimating them as a team I just think if possible we need to spare our best players for the derby and keep them fit and ready.

Two beauties? Fucking hell I'd love to hear you describe Bale's goal vs Wham.

Also there's no agenda against him as others have ridiculously suggested; it's just those of us who understand the mechanics of our system means with no Rose our shape will suffer if he is LWF

Sorry actually one, and what the fuck is wrong with describing his first as a "beauty" fuck me calm down.

Oh and just for you i would probably describe most of Bale's goals as "world class" i apologize if my description of a particular goal fits yours, it's called giving an opinion.

Yeah a shocking comment, you clearly watch our games with a lot of attention and know our players.

You should elaborate instead of just saying doesn't warrant it....explain how winning the game for us doesn't warrant it?

Whether he plays or not is not the point, I just think that it was dumb to say he don't warrant it based on his last league performance...

I would even have put Townsend there as a natural winger to create space if Naughton start. This will provide some width and open up some gaps. Also Townsend has the pace to track back and help to address Bellamy runs.

In open play, Naughton can cut in to pass or cross while Townsend can run down the line for crosses across the penalty box..... this will provide some dynamic play on the left.(y)

Did he actually perform though?

He scored two yes, but was peripheral for a lot of the match.

I'm not basing it on his last league performance in per se but he was poor against Tromso and poor in the last 3-4 games before Norwich.

Before anyone says I'm being unfair or dislike Siggy you can go check back to last season and how much I supported him.

With so many players to compete for 3 roles behind Soldado; I don't see why Siggy should warrant a start... Especially when we're away from home and would help to have pacey players on the wings who provide natural width.

Totally agree with this!! think it is important on tough away days to have the two physical Brazilians who are willing to tough it out, sitting as the holding midfielders, I think in time we all know Lamela will be 1st choice over Townsend and you cant drop Sigurdsson after last weekends 2 goals!

He had played in Europa..... I would had rest him and give Lamela or Holtby a run on the left.

WiganSpur has the right team selection I think. The potential lack of width on the left flank will be helped by a combination of Eriksen and Paulinho I reckon.

AVB seems to be bringing in Lamela at a reasonable pace (like Lloris last season) so I imagine the target is for him to start against Chelsea after getting some more game time against Villa.

And the team that we put out against Villa is hardly going to be skeleton side. I imagine it will see Friedel, Walker, Kaboul, Dembele, Lamela, Holtby, Townsend and Defoe starting, with a few others to fill in the gaps. Maybe even play a 442 with Kane and Defoe.

I only worry Eriksen ends up playing LW....:(
