I'm not sure how we could have asked for a better window if Vertonghen agrees to a new deal and we bring in a CB like Musacchio. Lloris extends his contract, we sign a LB, brought in a reliable backup in Vorm, add a promising young CB in Dier, Vertonghen extends his contract and we give him a partner that he truly needed. I'd be ecstatic if it all turned out that way.

And it all fits with that bit of ITK we got at one point.....strengthen the backline first and move forward.

I can see the Jan Contract being announced tomorrow, with Musaccio announced the follwing day.

Now THAT would be a good start to the week..

I don't think we can know that unless he gets a shot. Trouble is, we Spurs fans always love the big signings more. Archibald, Crooks, Falco. All did a fine job for us. Who generally got fewer plaudits? The guy who came through the ranks.

Goodnight

The lack of a LWF would be a serious oversight for me. Lennon and Townsend combined for 2 goals in 37 starts last season (one goal was a deflection and the other a cross that inadvertently went into the net). You cannot rely on them to be one of your main 3 in attack. Playing Eriksen there opens up defensive weaknesses on the left, which is a bigger problem when you consider that Davies was the most dribbled around player in the entire league last season.

Now I know you'll bring up Chadli, and I like him too, but he doesn't have the type of pace to get behind defenses in this league. What we need, and I think it'll become apparent when we play both teams that park the bus and top teams, is a left wing forward who can strike the ball cleanly with his right foot and has pace (and isn't currently sidelined with a major injury until November). Remy, Griezmann and Depay all fit that criteria. Two of them are still available. One is a cheaper short term option, which I'd welcome, and the other is a more long term project, but who is more likely to contribute right away in a major way than either Davies or Dier.

Trix's mate is an agent isn't he? So presumably the person who would definitely know would be Jan's agent.
If true, and I believe it is, then the club has addressed our concerns on the players most likely to want out and signed them both up to new long term contracts, that shows there is some proper joined up thinking going on at the club.

Previously when it came to transfers we had levy and which ever manager was here at the time attempting to sell the 'project' to the targets we were trying to purchase. However....

Now we still have levy, but add baldini and most importantly poch to that and I don't know what you lot think but I'm much more confident that if they get to speak with the player and are able to pitch our 'project' to them, we are likely to have a much higher success rate than previously!!

Hence the new contracts being signed and schneiderlin's desire to join us and willing to play up to get his move....can't remember than many past managers that would have that effect on players

Anyway....let's get this CB signed

Agree apart from the fact Greizmann is left footed.

I don't think the prefered foot matters too much rather that they can use their pace to get beyond the striker and can finish well

As it stands I think we've had a good window.
Mussacchio and Schneiderlin would make this a very very good transfer window.

Rome was not built in a day. I don't think we can adequately replace everyone on the team in one summer. By the sounds of things, we have done tremendous business around shoring up the back line. If we get Schneiderlin in, we will have addressed the CM position. Last year we brought in Lamela and Eriksen to improve the AM positions - that looks to be good business heading into this season.

In a relatively short order, assuming some of these other signings get pulled across the line (including some players out), Spurs will have re-balanced the squad, and brought in some younger players to build around. When January hits, we can re-evaluate, but it looks like we will still be in for Rodriguez then, maybe another striker will peak our interest.

Make verts vice captain behind lloris and it might just make him openly show more passion
