A&C. First of all thanks for you and the team for manning this thread day and night to control the insatiable appetites of spurs fans around the globe! A thankless task, but brilliantly managed.

Now onto business. Why the doom and gloom? We have bought a top class goalkeeper. We have lost king and Kaboul, but we have Verts who is going to be immense, Gallas who is a great player and leader and able backups in Dawson and Caulker.

In midfield we lost our catalyst in Modric. Modric was brilliant. He can take the ball in tight situations, can spring forward with the ball and can ping passes. Let's be clear, he was not a creator, nor a goalscorers. From what I have seen from Dembele, he can fill this role. He has the same ability to retain the ball and works like a beast.

I am gutted we have sold VDV his goals from midfield are going to be sorely missed. However £10m for a 29 year old who cannot play a full game it would seem is good business. We have Sigurdsson who at 22 is only going to get better.

We have bought in Dempsey who is going to be flexible and hard working. For 6m it is a good deal for a 29 year old. Dempsey is all about hard work and graft. I like him and his work ethic. Brings goals, and can play up front or out n the wing. A very good acquisition.

Yes, we failed to get Moutinho. Does anyone not think that we won't be going back to get him in January? I don't think it was down to the chairman. I don't get that at all. This chairman has brought a business on its knees to as profitable and well run club and deserves more respect from the fans. In Levy we trust. Ask Liverpool or Arsenal fans whether they enjoyed their transfer window and I am fairly sure you would get negative replies. We have a new manager who has a vision that we as fans have to back. I am looking forward to the season to progress and the club needs the fans to get behind them. COYS!

For those who are 'gutted' we didn't get Moutinho in, how many have actually seen him play outside the Euros? Not many I'd wager.

Sorry mate but have we really moved too the 'spurs didn't sign him so he was shit any way' phase already? There is a reason we were offering huge amounts of money for him he is a top class player who fits the AVB style of football perfectly. Losing modric is a huge blow, but he was a worthy replacement for a club of our stature.

Might be wrong but didn't a club buy yannick djalo from sporting Lisbon a few minutes late last year and the transfer was complete but he couldn't be registered until January. If it was true we signed moutinho 4 minutes late then I wonder if this would be the case???

thanks to those in charge yesterday .. was great and not single problem.... alot of very new posters though doing alot of slagging... thats my job haha!!!

with regards transfers clever very good signings alll strong with great work ethic and graft. the cherry on top was a big name.. i nver expected a striker one bit even with all rumours of llorente. we just dont have what it takes to get a real world beater of a striker in.

with regards moutinho have no idea what happened. im sure its something to do with moneys due to 3rd parties. i cant beleive for second its his actual own personal terms. alot of bad blood out in portugal with sporting and porto so who knows but levy must surely know spurs fans arent happy..

dont believe for second we missed out by 4 minutes according to portuguese journo.. no chance..

Not sure how that would work. I doubt we'd be willing to pay the wages until then if he wasn't playing. I'm pretty sure this will just mean that Levy will start re-negotiating a deal in November/December before another mad scramble at the end of January.

Just thought - Porto play in blue. It's going to be blue and yellow again in January again!

For those who are 'gutted' we didn't get Moutinho in, how many have actually seen him play outside the Euros? Not many I'd wager. Modric was always going to be very difficult to replace and let's remember that it was Levy who kept him here as long as he was. Not many other chairmen would've been able to bend Modric to his will. We got a good price for him which allowed us to make some quality signings. Maybe Moutinho would've been amazing, maybe not, but for those who are saying 'Levy out', I say get some fucking perspective!

No, I haven't seen him play outside the Euros. BUT AVB has, plenty of times, and, according to many sources, HE was the one he wanted more than any other player. So I don't think I'm alone in being "gutted."

Thanks Levy.

Another transfer deadline day and another cock up in not getting our number 1 target.

We have had a very good window, I think what comes out of this window is that we have a stronger squad overall, just a weaker starting 11.

Letting Kane go in the dying mins was a bit odd but that's Levy for you. I am gutted to wake up this morning and see that Jenas and Bentley are still with us and Mouts isn't, can't believe that we couldn't ship them off somewhere

A massive congrats to the mod's on here, never had a problem with site yesterday.

Anyway onwards and upwards, 3 points today would be lovely and it could be worse, we could have done the same business as Liverpool or Arsenal. Will be interesting what kind of round up we get today from JJ

I'm not saying he's shit. Just how exactly do you know that he's a worthy replacement for Modric? I'm amazed at the number of people that are suddenly experts on Moutinho and how he'd fit into AVB's system.

The worst thing was believing we had Moutinho for so much of the day from the moment we'd seen a fee had been agreed, feels like a real kick in the bollocks that we don't have him now.

I'm glad we have striker cover, but a shame that we didn't get a Modric replacement and still no fucking cover on the wings.

If everything was agreed but they relised it was to late I hope they got the bloody tipex out and change all the dates from 31st August to 1st Janurary!!!

We don't want to be fucking around with this player like we have been with the time wasters from brazil!

Was levy's £20 million bid for llorente a face saving bid like rossi's last year?

We made a bid for Llorente
Hahahahaha
Don't believe that. I knew something would go wrong and it did. Missing out on Moutinho by 4 mins. Why couldn't we ask for an extension

Why why why!

It doesn't really matter who on here does or doesn't rate moutinho, spurs clearly do rate him but missed out for what ever financial reasons. That definitely wasn't the plan.

Yeah, i'd like to echo the gratefulness to the mods. This place was mental last night, I called it a night at 202 pages. Staggered to see some diehards carried on to 298!!!!!

Some have mentioned that atleast we had a good window compared to Arsenal and Liverpool? Wel that remains to be seen, and the proof will be how the MF knits together over the coming weeks. For sure we have strengthened in key areas, and liverpool havent, so that's good. The scum - ive learnt my lesson not to get carried away too early when they are concerened.

Atleast its over now - the calm after the storm. We can all look forward to a game today, and get back to supporting Tottenham on the pitch and not the boardroom.

And I know one thing's for sure. I never want my wife to look at me so disappointingly, as i sit round my lap top frantically reading, refreshing, and switching to other websites constantly for 4 hours. Will i get my wish? Will i b0110x.......

I agree that it was an ok window, we did buy some good players. I think the problem is that the ITK stated all along that it would be a great window and everyone would be happy when it closed... Now we know that it ain't so...
We did good but should've done better.

Now I look forward for todays game.

Modric should have been sold weeks ago. Mourinho should have been signed before season started. The rest I can understand.

Having backed Levy throughout, for the first time I am sceptical about the Moutinho saga. His nous and ability to negotiate hard and pay the lowest price or to receive inflated transfer fees is second to none. His vision for the club doubtless involves true ambition and I am convinced he has the club's best intentions at heart. He should take great credit for signing the likes of vdv and modric (particularly the latter which was inspired). Notwithstanding all of the above this window has involved a minimal net spend. This can only be intentional: the training ground and move to NPK have plainly caused Levy to resile from backing AVB on the stellar signings AVB had identified. I simply do not believe Levy and his negotiation team were incapable of signing JM. The player was desperate to sign and work with AVB again; it would be in the player's agents interests financially for the deal to go through; and third party ownership (if true) could and should have been identified months ago when AVB told Levy JM was the no 1 target. 16.5m is our transfer record! I am not sure if we will ever see Levy spend beyond that whilst NPK is ongoing or possibly during his tenure as Chairman. I simply don't buy into this 'four minutes' nonsense or the 2m change if goalposts. If it did happen it is a smokescreen to mask the fact that Levy was never serious about the deal. The only thing I cannot decide is whether AVB expected it to happen and so Levy needs this type of drama/excuse to appease him or whether AVB knew all along that LEVY would not sanction it. There have been far too many false dawns about stellar 20-30m signings in each and every Levy window. It is axiomatic that eventually even a due hard Levy backer becomes a cynic and begins to realise that the reality is running a tight financial ship to manage the clubs long term infrastructure plans

Am i right in thinking we can loan players to lower leagues after the window closes, if so we still may be able to offload bentley and jenas!

went to bed last night gone midnight, got 5 kids & an early start, anyway, the last few posts were saying we might have got special discompsation and were still in with a great chance of signing Mouts in the next 90 mins. To wake up & see we were 4 mins late beggars belief & after some brief opptimism last night I wake to feel empty without Rafa & gutted for our manager, I wanted Levy to give him the tools to see how really good he is, now he's already got an excuse to fall back on if he's a faliure. IMO for all the 'Arry haters out there that were delighted he got the boot it does seem their chickens have come home to roost.Levy was 1 creative maestro away from having a great TW, it now remains to be seen how it pans out.
