It looks like my day has been mapped out for me then.

I make a not unreasonable request that the Bale stuff now starts getting put into the Bale thread so we can leave this clear for any new ITK we might get. That starts being ignored pretty much immediately so to begin with, I delete a few posts. After a while, i'll get cheesed with that and start getting irritated and making posts threatening people with assorted sex toys and after that the thread ends up getting locked and after that people start getting banned.

It's how you like to roll.

So i'll ask again. It is time to take the Bale stuff to the player thread please.

When did we have a successful transfer window last ? One that we felt the board really backed us and we hadn't been short changed?
It does seem like a while.

But all of those years of relative austerity actually seemed to have served us well up until this time last week, as though we were building slowly to a point where we were in a position to have a bit of a splurge to cement a place in the top four.

Just a shame now that someone seems to have thrown a spanner in the works.

Let's be honest, if this whole Real Madrid thing hadn't happened, we would already be looking at this window as a massive success, proved by the fact that just a couple of days ago some people on here were considering us genuine title challengers (a little over-optimistic IMHO). You can't blame the board if, and I mean if, our star player has decided he wants out.

What would be everone's reaction if we keep him against his wishes and he does a Berbatov next season? We'd probably all be happy that DL has screwed RM over, but that's thinking with the heart before the head. It wouldn't really be in the best interests of the club.

Not saying they always get it right, but I'm confident our board always try to act in the best interests of the club. I consider it a good thing that they are businessmen and not fans, it's a sad indictment of where football has headed over the years, but they won't be successful in business terms (ie make loads of money) if they're not building the club into one that can be both successful and self-sustaining.

Harry's first was it? (Defoe, Keane, Kaboul, Palacios?!)
Can't remember all the names and this isn't the thread for it, but Levy HAS shown that he is willing to back a manager with funds.

And look, assuming Soldado signs today, that's a €30m striker... LOOK AGAIN... 30!!!!!!!!! On top of breaking our record already on a midfielder from Brazil.

Until the Bale media circus hit full swing we were already beginning to chime in with this being one of the best if not THE best. It's just unravelling a bit. But anyone who thought the Bale issue wouldn't rear it's head this summer already were being hopeful at best. Someone was going to make an issue out of it.

Bets on which German club might be sniffing? Hamburg, Stuttgart maybe? Would strike me as the teams needing someone like Gylfi. HSV might even see him as a successor to VdV (when he retires, leaves, etc...)?!

Imo Levy and AVB are on the same wavelength. We need to thin the squad down (Hudd going would make a huge difference!) and we do need to bring in players who are on another level (the Soldados / Lamelas although we may have to settle for Di Maria if he'll come) as well as young up and coming and TOP LEVEL youngsters (hence the interest in the Croatians / Morata etc). We can try to develop our own talent, but if AVB decides they will not develop into top drawer players, then we should be ok with selling for a profit as we just did with Caulker.
(Although on FIFA he develops into a class player - still, not reality though is it? lol)

The up shot being that we use the money we make over the next year to two years to get the stadium built asap. Massive projects like that have a habit of becoming a black hole for money to disappear into (see Wembley) so the sooner we get it paid for and built the better it will be for us as a club. If I was Levy I'd be looking at things like this:

50m Warchest + Caulker sale (9m) = Soldado 26m / Paulinho 17m / Chadli 7m / and a new up and coming top drawer CB

Bale deal = 80m + Di Maria / up and coming forward (Morata?) / and Coentrao = LB, RW/LW or back up for Soldado and 80m towards stadium.

Sale of other players (Ade / Siggy / Parker / Hudd / BAE) + that 80m = 100m towards stadium and maybe enough for another player.

Genuinely gutted to lose Bale, but we could still be a quality team without him, maybe more so if we play more as a team:

Lloris
Walker Kaboul Verts Coentrao
Paulinho Sandro Dembele
Chadli Soldado Di Maria

At least I know we wont be surprised with a Remy during last day ofthe window. I am hoping we can get a deal for Sanchez.
Sanchez would be interesting.

I haven't been around on here regular for too long, has there been any sort of solid ITK on interest in him? Personally I'm struggling to believe he would be interested in us. I know he's not flavour of the month at Barca, but still?

Impending court case aside, I actually thought Remy looked good and adapted quickly last year... As a back up striker that could also play across the front three I would have thought he would have been a solid-ish squad signing.

Good news for anti Remy wishers......
He aint coming here!
Because we have someone better lined up!? :)

I'm heading down to the Tottenham training ground at 10am to watch our academy. If I'm lucky enough to see Bale ill show him some of the comments on here. Maybe A&C's dildo threats will put him off from leaving.

So we have to go back as far as Harry's first window then ?? Wow

And the paulinho and soldado signings are a result of the bale sale... How much profit will we make again in this window ?
