I'd like to think so too but i'm not so sure any more. It's bloody convenient and the cynic in me wonders if it's all a sham because we don't risk losing an £85m deal through injury. A few weeks ago I was convinced he was staying but now I just don't know. I think for me, the slience from the club is now probably the most telling aspect of this whole saga. I know someone is going to say 'why should we say anything' but I really feel that the speculation has been that intense that if he were staying Levy would have gone out of his way to poo-poo the rumours.

Anyway, them's my onions on the thing.

This is how I feel too.

Whilst the media will invent shit, there is no smoke without fire. We are seeing people like Chris Coleman saying he'd be great in Madrid, Robbie Savage (who must have some connection to the Welsh set up still) stating he thinks he will go. All pundits and media are unanimous in their opinions that he will go. Whilst I think most pundits are wankers, like I said above, at least one would have heard something to the contrary coming out of the Club if we were not interested in selling him.

I do think our hand has been forced a little by Bale's will to leave, but we can't be naive enough to believe that the Club wouldn't have taken a world record bid even without this tantrum from him. £85m, if that is the actual sum he goes for, is a monstrous amount of money. Bale is not as good as Ronaldo (as Madrid will find out), so to get more for him than United got for Ronaldo is an achievement (if selling your best player can be described as such).

I can't see us spending another £80m. I don't think the £60m we've spent thus far is completely independent of the Bale deal. I can see us bringing in one of either Willian or Lamela and a left back, possibly Coentrao. Should we do that we'll be in a great position for the top four I believe.

If I was Real Madrid and I was paying 100 million for one player (seriously read that back it's mind boggling money) and would want him ASAP. It's also been said as well - news that big would have leaked.

Also we have been up front in the past about players not being in the right frame of mind to play, Mpdric & Berba. So why would we hide behind injuries this time.

Unless a deal has already been done, Christ I'm confused. Please make the ride stop!

The transfer window must be so boring for all those pricks who are not THFC fans!
must be fun to be an arsenal fan though. celebrate qualifying for champions league but being unable to sign anyone, yet the team they celebrated finishing above who didn't qualify for champions league have spent 60m on 4 signings!

Oh the irony

AvB was sacked by Chelsea for allegedly trying to change too much too quick.

A big clear out seems to be occurring at our club, tearing the fabric out

Bale, Defoe, Bae, Parker, Huddlestone, BAE, Caulker, Dempsey, Adebayor

I am a bit concerned, where is the spirit going to come from?

Sorry but if players aren't up to the grade they need to be shipped out. For a start Ade and Benny are hardly players I'd say bring spirit to a club. Huddlestone, Parker and Caulker are not players that will get you Champions League football, as we've seen. Bale leaving is out of our hands and Defoe is probably staying.

If we hadn't had shipped out the dead wood shit and not bought a striker and the other players we've signed you'd be moaning how we've done nothing this window. Unless by spirit you mean "buy english", which is a retarded view as English players are shit and overpriced.

I'm sure Dawson, Walker and Lennon would agree ;-)

Such a shame that Robert Maxwell went overboard, apparently....

The clue (if this means anything) might be in the "apparently". Did he go overboard or was he pushed ? Or could be alluding to something that wasn't what it seemed altogether.

Personally, as a spurs fan, I don't think him going overboard was a shame.

Yep. If I were to base my onions on ITK i'd go insane. The injury and the silence are the only real clues and who knows? I might be well wide of the mark.
I did wonder if you had gone slightly mental with the way you've been talking in riddles today

It was more informative for the poor buggers that held their pention funds with him

I may be wrong and this ITK might not be on the money either, but doesn't everyone think it's odd that this year our transfer dealings have been unusual:

This is from a different source but one we believe is decent.

"Fee agreed with Real Madrid a few weeks ago. Deal has been done. Agreement with Real that its will not be announced until we have concluded our purchases.

So long and thanks for the memories Gareth. It's been a pleasure."

That's several very contradictory messages we've had tonight so pick which one you'd like to believe.

Said this a couple of nights ago:

I believe we may already be reinvesting. And with the class signings you desire.
We have already added a striker who scored 34 goals and assisted 6 last season, and an attacking wide player who scored 19 from 27 starts last season. A quality Brazilian box to box who scored 8 and assisted 3 and a very promising French CM.
There's about 60m there. And improvements in more than one area and easily replaced Bale's best season output.
A suspicious mind might think we know Bale is gone and have said to RM let us do our business first otherwise we'll be hit hard on every move we make knowing we have their money to burn.
If uncle Joe has put some money in the pot maybe it's merely an advance on what he knows is coming back in for Bale very soon ?
