I do think VDV is an ill fit for our system because of pace but i agree that losing him and Modric in one window would leave us with zero creativity in the middle of the park. Next summer maybe sell VDV if we can get in a body in the next week and maybe another in Jan.

I'm sure JJ said a while back that Levy would consider selling VDV at the right price. It's just that Hamburg or Schalke couldn't afford our valuation of him.

I'm pretty sure VDV would only go to Germany so unless any of the top clubs come in for him then he won't bee going anywhere.

We have three world class players at our club that are the backbone of our team. Losing both Modric and Van der Vaart would be a disaster. All this talk about Adam Johnson has me nervous that he is a cheap option to replace Bale down the road. Selling Modric is one thing, but losing Rafa sends us down the road we don't want to go.

Sigurdsson isn't anywhere near Van der Vaart's class and AVB will be making a huge mistake if he doesn't start Rafa at the weekend (either with Sigurdsson, or in place of him).

Just the thought of selling Bale, Modric and VDV in one year.. Let's not make the same mistake that Villa did..

So we are seriously considering selling our two best players late in the transfer window, therefore not giving our fairly new manager who wants to put a new spin on the team and is already at a disadvantage (Juande = language barrier, AVB = media) enough time to fully gel their replacements (if we get replacements) into the team before it's go time, leaving us a bit up a creek without a paddle?

Good. Because that worked out so fucking well in 2008.

Bale isn't world class. Certainly not yet. He's capable of world class moments, and in terms of productivity, last season was by a mile his best and most consistent season, but he's got a long way to go before being called truly world class. World class players don't look as bad as Bale does about 40-50% of the time.

To infuriate you loyal VDV fans.. He does not fit fluidly into our system, and he is not world class, a very good player but not world class. However that saying losing both VDV and Mods will be a big blow but Levy and AVB know what they are doing.

Surely we just can't see King, Dawson, Modric and VdV leave the club this window. All in their different ways really significant outgoings individually. All 4 would just be too much to take.

He is world class, no doubt about it. In the big moments he has the balls and composure to deliver.

Love the player, my fav for last few seasons but really don't think he fits the system. Sad to see him go, if he does, but can see AVB's thinking.
