Under Armor is a local company for me (Maryland-based), so I'm excited to see if they can put something decent out. They are only about 10 years old, AFAIK, but they are really going after Nike/Adidas in the States. We'll be their biggest club I believe, so perhaps they'll be keen to have a real "superstar" on the team that they can market to the American/global public.

As for Warrior Sports, they're a smaller Under Armor that does mostly ice hockey and lacrosse equipment in the States. Those are niche sports, played mostly by intolerable, privileged, prep-school types. 25mil is 25mil though.

Erm, icey hockey is most certainly not prep-school sport, it is a sport played mostly by toothless Canadians...

And Russians, Swedes, Finns, Germans, Czechs, Slovakians, Latvians, Belarusians... It's a massive sport world wide.

No, it's a massively expensive sport that cannot be played by the poor. Jr. Hockey costs my friend over $5000 a year. It's not a prep school sport....that's lacrosse, but it is played by mostly working-class (but in the middle class bracket) white kids in the US. I don't know the distribution in Canada.

I grew up dirt poor and played hockey till I was 16.

From the Guardian:
Rather than taking a risk with a company unknown in football – Michigan-based Warrior were synonymous with lacrosse and hockey before last year becoming supplier to the Boston Red Sox, the baseball club that shares owners with Liverpool – Ayre believes the club will benefit as the company's main priority. That, it is suspected at Liverpool, has not always been the case with Adidas. Liverpool's MD added: "What really encouraged us is that this is their first foray into football and so we are their only customer and they will be very focused on Liverpool Football Club and promoting this opportunity around the world."
I imagine, though, if what you say is true, they merely supply under-uniform pieces?

Interestingly, the same article mentions that Liverpool expect to double that money as they can now open club shops anywhere in the world, something Adidas previously wouldn't allow.

My guess is that they supply the catchers gear. Maybe batting helmets. They don't make anything else that the Sox would need. Everything not covered by MLB contracts (such as hats by New Era and the uniform) is a players discretion and could be a source of income for them. So at best this company is supplying the equivalent of the corner flags for the pitch.

Not that they don't have a relationship with Henry via the Sox, but they are minor players. Until now.

Well Swedes and Yanks are different. I imagine Canada is the same. For you and them its a major sport. Here, it is only a significant sport in the Northeast corridor and Minnesota (full of Swedish immigrants ). The colder climates that share borders with its home.

By the way, who paid for your gear? Because there is little assistance here and they expect a kid to have full gear for protection. Not like American football, where those not of means can get their gear provided by somebody.

I inherited some stuff from my older brother, and they used to organize flee-markets for hockey gear back home, not sure if they do that anymore. The sticks I got from my uncle who worked as a janitor for a team (proper russian sticks, solid wood). But back then (late 90s/early 00s) you could get some rather cheap gear. A pair of skates for £30 for example (shitty quality, mind you). Helmets, pants, gloves, neck protection, jock straps etc where pretty cheap and I usually got them for Christmas or my birthday.

When you got a bit older the team would usually pay for some gear (around £100-150 in total I think, usually covered a pair of skates at age 16 if you wanted some better stuff).

But yeah, like you say, hockey is alot bigger in Canada and Sweden.

Couldn't afford baths mate

Who said we had a bath? I said we had to take a bath...usually in a rich person's house...we would trudge for miles trying to get past the cordon into the rich folk's district, where Ma would force us to break into a gaff, heat water up, have a bath and out again before anyone noticed.

But if you tell kids that nowadays...

I'm suprised he is ok to wear that while we still have Puma.

Nothing wrong with that. From that snap shot, one cannot say whether it was taken during his time off work.
I think that he is free to wear whatever he likes when he is off duty. He is then of course duty bound to wear the official gear when he is on duty.

The press conference will be packed today, loads of cameras inside and outside, Harry is known for rolling down his car window... nice product placement for UA.

I don't think its a coincidence but you are right.

Why would Redknapp be wearing that? It looks photoshop like to me, just from the Shape of HArry, but reflection in car window suggets its legitimate.

What's he got in his hand?? It looks like one of those electronic 20 question ball things!??

Perhaps he's asking it "should I take the England job?"

He obviously has something up his sleeve - it's just slipping out a bit.

Maybe it is the latest in innovative neuro-symbolic programming, allowing him to compose a team sheet without the need conventional literacy skills - a set of player images that he can input in correct order that produces a type-out team-sheet, or summit
