I’ve never known a fanbase to spout so much utter dross.

How can they call anything about their club “elite”?

Seems to be this current cycle’s buzzword.
Therefore crowbarred into every sentence and statement wherever possible to appear knowledgeable.

We have two players that I would call “elite”.

Arsenal has none.

Stay fresh, cheese bags.

If I had to guess which of their players their fans would call elite I'd say Saka, Partey, Tierney, Odegaard and Gabriel. All completely wrong of course.

Let's not forget since Conte took over at Spurs last November his points tally was 3rd best in the league above Chelsea, 3rd best defence and 3rd best attack. If he had been in charge at the start of the season it wouldn't have gone down to the last day of the season for 4th place .
To be fair I’m making that statement with the knowledge that Arsenal played 30+ games with a disinterested Auba or one of the two mugs in Nketiah and Lacazette up front. Jesus is an improvement, we aren’t the only ones who have upgraded. They are better than they were last year, as are we.

I do think it will be a very close race for top 4, hopefully we can separate ourselves but with the mid season WC all bets are off imo. The team who best avoids the always random injury outcomes is going to be more lucky than good, it’s hard to predict too much.

If I were making grandiose claims about how my team were replicating City's 4-3-3 system, the one thing I probably wouldn't do is illustrate this with the players in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Just a thought.

What, you think Odegaard would not make a good Rodri replacement?

(though I am curious which of Partey/Xhaka they consider to be the KDB clone...)

The best part is we have verifiable proof that zero of their players would get in City’s team, because two of their nailed on starters who are “so close to City’s level” were reserves for City last year :ROFLMAO:

It's mad how just a couple of months ago Arteta was a complete fraud according to most of the gooners but is now the second coming of Pep. The same goes for how much they over rate some players they were bashing before.

I’m might be being optimistic but I think this Arsenal pre season is a false dawn. They feel like the ultimate pre season team full of Brazilians and lightweight players that will always look good in July with a bit of sun on their back. Plus they’ve played 2 clubs in Everton and Chelsea at their woeful worse. The one real place they needed to strengthen CM they haven’t. If they’d got Bissouma I’d definitely be more worried about them.

Obsession over the unimportant wins, erasure of the crucial losses.
A little respect for this truth bomb. Ooh, sometimes the truth is harder than the pain inside, yeah. That club is like the circus as we'll see when All For Nothing drops on Amazon in a couple of weeks.

I think arsenal will have a decent season. When confidence is high they will steamroll the smaller teams in the league.

It's just if they have a blip or the going gets tough how well they can bounce back

Surely every team will look at the atmosphere us and the Geordies created last season which saw them wilt and will try and create that? If other team’s fans have anything about themselves of course

Clearly Arsenal will be worse than some of their more deluded fans think, but they will still be better than we think. United will also be a completely different prospect under Ten Hag. City have added Haaland, Liverpool Nunez. There has never been a tougher league in history. I’m just glad we’ve done good business too, for once Kane looks like he’s on fire going into August and, most importantly, we have Conte.

I had an interesting chat with a gooner at work yesterday. He thinks we have bought very well and have a serious chance of troubling Man City and Liverpool at the very top. And he was split as to whether they should focus on the Europa League as their best chance of CL football next year or prioritise the league. Actually felt weird having a proper, considered discussion with him as I was expecting a lot more bravado.
