This was a team performance last night so for that reason individual scores are not going to be forthcoming for me, because as a team, Spurs gave me one of my proudest moments in 30 years of supporting them.

Bale just shades MOM from Modric who was sublime last night.

For soem of you guys to single out Hutton as the worst player, (to single anyone out as the worst player last night is wrong in my opinion) is plain wrong. He was done by Eto'o, who is one of the best strikers in world football, yes, it hapens and happens to most defenders week in week out. Very harsh in my opinion. On this basis are we now saying that Maicon is now a crap defender, because Bale has made him look ordinary in 2 games?

So for me it was a wonderful team performance, thankyou Tottenham.

Exactly this!

As for Hutton criticisms, even if he did lose Eto'o for the goal (and let us not forget, he was booked completely unfairly after Eto'o waved an imaginary card at the ref, when the ref was going to take no action at all), it was still an extraordinary goal from the guy. Probably the best striker in the world, and he found a perfect finish. Sometimes people are so focussed on defensve mistakes that they don't notice great goals.

We really shouldn't put too much blame on Hutton for Eto'o's goal, it was a sublime finish from the world's most inform striker. Yes Hutton should have shown him down the outside, but seriously how many defenders can keep players like Eto'o when in his current form, from making any sort of contribution for a whole game.

So........according to your ratings, FIVE players played better than Bale last night and two played at least as well.
Four, not five, other than that, yes.

Obviously if I was rating on eye-catching performances then I would ignore the 10 abysmal crosses which Bale put in, plus the times when moves involving him went nowhere and rate him a 10, but I look at the overall contribution to a match, and there were players, for me, who contributed, overall, as much and more than Bale.

No, I'm being absolutely genuine.

Against Manure last weekend, Chris Waddle highlighted that the thing which cost us more than anything else was the quality, or lack thereof, regarding our final ball, and it's something which numerous other people from the game who have summarized our games have commented on numerous times.

I happen to agree with them. The quality of our final balls in attacking positions generally isn't that good, behind our finishing, it's probably our weakest area.

Just think how good we would actually be if we could sort out the quality of those final balls, (the number of chances we create would rocket), and the quality of the finishing, (the number of goals we score would rocket). It's a mouth-watering prospect for me.

Hutton shouldnt have shown him inside, but when he does then the CB should then close him down which didnt happen, so a mixture of mistakes but everyone at the back had a good game and dont deserve anything bad said

Lanh, the only thing you;ve proved by saying that, is that you know very little about football.

Hardly put a foot wrong last night, and every football expert on the planet would massively disagree with you.

Bale was superb last night, absolkutely fucking unbelievable.

Modric was also superb.

And although Bale probably over shadowed Lennon, I thought Lennon was almost back to his best last night too.

I'm actually LOL'ing at you saying what you've said, the absolutel biggest load of tosh I've ever heard from you dude.

Sky were even saying if it wasnt for Bale on the other wing then Lennon would have been pushing for MOM for them

Mate this aint playstation!! how many goals do you expect him to set up in a game of this importance??

Bale made two goals, and put in another 3/4 that should have been put away...this against the champs of europe, wow you do set yourself high standards.

I have read some obsurd things on SC, but  well done, that probably tops the lot...i am actually lost for words.

Mock all you want, but the fact remains, we can do better as a team than we did last night.

Oh I wasn't commenting on your post. Clearly I disagree with you, I think anybody would, but I was just commenting on the infamy you now have within this thread. Couldn't care less if you're not as happy with Bale as I am, it's your view and you're entitled it, however strage it may be.

How do you better as team than beat the European Champions over 2 legs, scoring 6, yes 6 goals in the process, with Bale being MOM is both games?

Remember Lanh, this is something that the great and magnificent Barcelona could not do last year.

Fair enough. I feel it's worth pointing out that about a fifth of the people who rated this game, also agreed that Bale was not the best performing player last night.

Quite simply, you cut out the deficiencies.

Let's not forget that they also scored 5 goals over the two ties, and that many moves which we created broke down to nothing, not to mention that we didn't finish all of the chances which we did create.

There's always room for improvement mate, always.

We did great, but I do think that we could have done even better.

Apart from the obvious Modric & Bale I'd give top marks to the whole side last night, Magnificent! A special mention for Benoit too not so much for how he played but for the first time he seemed to be so fired up, it clearly wasn't just a job last night, he came over and threw his shirt to the Park Lane at the end.

Yesterday I posted this:-

"I vote win, I'm sick of playing second fiddle, feck 'em! go for, it lets show them just how good we really are, lets stick it to them, let's put the fear of Christ up them and everyone else.
Win this and we can believe in ourselves, win the group and other sides will believe in us which will make it easier for us.

We are the famous Tottenham Hotspur and we're going to Wemberley!
Send out the message WE ARE THE SPURS, WE ARE BACK AND WE ARE COMING FOR YOU!!! BE AFRAID! BE VERY AFRAID!!!

Come on you Spurs."

I feel totally vindicated, perhaps they read my post?:)

Your post appears to be a negative Lanh but I prefer to see it as a positive, we were magnificent last night but actually not only can we do better we will do better we are getting better all the time, how frightening is that???

anybody that is marking hutton lower or indeed any player doesnt understand football or the spirit of the game. the team was great and made inter look fragmented at times whilst we were just a solid entity, a massive wave of unstoppableness.

calamaro carlo. much better hair than gomes. a (sometime lucky) 7
hutton. generally solid (apart from the obvious) helped dominate the ball 7
gallas n kaboul - 2 rocks. they ooze confidence. 8
ekotto. the braided one. 9
lennon. quicksilver.8
modric. decent enough.. 9
hudd. a rock . 7
bale. if you can read this you are too close (and are about to get incinerated) a white-hot 9
crouch. tallest brasilian on the pitch. thrives on the glory nights. 8
rafael- too cool for school 8

pav. seriously. if he gives the ball away again i'm gonna tatoo his name on my forehead and hang myself from my penis. - (on the) lash

wilson.. how dare you replace my hero. - 50 (lashes)

jenas. fucking ran around a bit innit. - mr whippy.
